Check that the timing has not jumped, incorrect timing will trigger a cam sensor code as the ecu can not work out the correct position of the cam.

I have 2 engine codes on my 2005 dodge neon. they are p0325 and p0340. the car has problem starting and misses badly for a while. What is the problem and how do i fix it? thanx for the help!

the p0325 code pertains to a knock censor. the p0340 is for your cam shaft sensor. i've had this problem before. try replacing the cam shaft censor first and run the codes again to see if the other still comes up. it should fix the problem. hope this helps

Tcs light flashes and p0340 code

P0340 code means "Something" is wrong in the timing...
from CMP (Camshaft Position sensor) to the crankshaft bolt.

Very first thing, verify connectors are clean and shiny.
clear all codes, even hard codes.

P0340 Problem Code for 03 Jeep Liberty

code p0340 refers to cam shaft position sensora bank 1-circuit malfunction===causes --wiring Cam sensor---ECM. The only connection is the ECM to both units so they may have unpluged the ECM to service the air bag problem. IT could be as simple as using a code reader to reset the CPU. I may also be a coincedence and there may be a fault in the cam position sensor.. I would discuss the matter with the dealer service department to determine what is what.

Error code 340 & 457

  • P0340 - Camshaft position sensor circuit malfunction.
  • P0457 - Evaporative emission control system leak detected (fuel filler cap loose/off)

There is a bulletin #0398 posted on 05/12/2003 for P0457 - Malfunction indicator lamp (mil) illumination with diagnostic trouble codes p0442, p0455, p0456, p0457, p1442 or check fuel cap lamp illuminated with diagnostic trouble code p0457.

I'd suggest checking with your local dealer, as it may be a fix that is covered by the dealer.

Car would not start, after siiting for an hour it did start .

mcdevito75 here, BEST BET, let the shop do this work, too many un forseen problems could come up. The stalling and unable to start for a while could also be a bad ignition module, no test for this part, but I would have it changed, for if it is a bad ignition module, all this other work will not fix the stalling and later start of your car.

ERROR CODE 0340 AFTER TIMING BELT REPLACEMENT

Well either coincidence that the cam sensor went bad, you forgot to plug in the cam sensor, Or you have the cam that the sensor reads off of 1 tooth off. Check to see if its plugged in if yes remove the upper timing cover and see if everything lines up.
