I have a 2006 Ford Crown Vic Police Interceptor. I am having a problem with the dash. As I am driving it all the warning lights come on and the speedometer, tach, and odometer all stop working. I have had it to the shop on two occassions and they can't seem to figure out the problem. The problem seems to get worse as the weather gets colder. After a while everything will start to work again, but it is hit and miss as to how many times a day I have to deal with this problem.

Has anyone bothered to scan the IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) or the GEM (General Electronic Module) to see if there are any fault codes? Does the engine run OK when this happens? I had a Grand Marquis that was doing something similar and the modules had several U-codes. Finally found the problem in the Transmission Range Sensor - it was shorting out the data line.

I'm having an similar issue with my '04 Grand Marquis. The biggest difference is that the car restarts itself.

I have the 2006 police interceptor, the dash lights turn on and off continuously, whats the fix for this problem,?????

  • Anonymous Apr 15, 2016

Another cause of this issue is an worn ignition switch tumbler. The contacts wear out and cause intermittent contact. If you can have it scanned it may well be a code for the panel control module.

The dash lights turn off and on while driving, the speedometer and RPM stop working for a flash of a second and come back on, I was thinking about pulling the battery terminal to see if something resets,

Either the speed sensor,or the dash cluster is of fault. Have Auto Zone test the speed sensor,if ok ,,, I would replace the cluster ( buy used ) much cheaper.

you can get a A/C Delete kit for a Ford 4.6 liter. the 4.6 v-8 accessory drive system is all the same. You may also be able to run a line of string around the pullys, take it to your local auto parts store and they can match it up. I recomend the kit,

The police package interceptors had a common problem with the fans seizing up. There was a TSB ford released to correct the issue which called for the replacement of the electric fan assembly with an updated fan assembly.

99 crown vic police interceptor steering wheel??

i have ran into 2 issues in these vehicles---if it binds while sitting still also, check the steering shaft, i have found the u-joints in the shaft tighten up and binds dangerously tight---if they are free, sounds like you may have a steering box issue or restriction in a line---hope this was helpful!!
