Sorry this is not an easy fix the clutch packs in the transmission are slipping, usually caused by wear, but the hydraulic pump is probably getting week. As the oil warms up the oil gets thinner and the hydraulic pressure decreases. Times for a overhaul of the transmission, and if the torque converter can not be flushed a new torque converter is recommended. You may get lucky buy changing the fluid several times, but if the transmission is 22 years old it may not help.

SOURCE: NO REVERSE FORWARD GEARS WORK. IS THERE A BAND AJUSTMENT FOR REVERSE ?IF I PUSH IT OFF IT WORKS BUT SLIPS

I have a 2000 Honda Accord EX, it shifts normal on forward with no problem. Also when the car is cold the reverse gear works just fine, but when the car runs for about few minutes the reverse gear will not work. It will seem as if it wants to go but then if feels like its neutral.

Shift module

That transmission is one that has been used for years in Dodge and Plymouth vans. Do you know when the last time was that the fluid was flushed out and replaced? It's pretty important that it be done every 90K miles.......have it checked out.

I have a 1985 chevy g20 sportvan the tranny is slipping i need a new one it has a tubo 350 in it and i need to know how to tell if it is short or long

What your looking for is the length of the rear tail shaft housing on the transmission. You want to measure the length of the one on your vans transmission. You will need to get under your van and measure from where the drive shaft slides into the back of the transmission to one of the 4 bolts a the front of that housing.

The gears are slipping in my transmission when I am sitting in drive and what to throught a red light the car sits for a few seconds then goes. can it be my tramsmission flilter?

you should be changing your transmission filter once a year no matter what. Now that I'm off my soap box. You need to ajust the bands. When you pull the filter to your transmission there are going to be some bolts. You need to find the specs to your car and transmission and ajust them. If your transmission is not toast, this could fix it very cheap and easily. Also, have you checked the transmission fluid making sure you have the correct fluid?
