SOURCE: Replacing dashboard lights on an 2000 Oldsmobile Silhouette Van?

this will take some time but is fairly easy. you have to remove the dash pieces on that side. then this will allow you access to the instrument cluster. becareful not to wear clothing that will give off a static discharge this could short out the cluster board. the bulbs are tiny so be careful while rep-lacing them. the bulbs can be purchased at a local store the bulbs are a 194 or a 1893 in most cases.

SOURCE: vehicle is overheating...2000 oldsmobile silhouette

It's possible you have a blown head gasket. In that case, the heater core which is above the engine fills with exhaust and stops working. To verify this condition, check exhaust for excessive white smoke. If leak is still small, it's possible you won't see much. In that case have a shop check the radiator for hydrocarbons (exhaust). If the test shows any in cooling system, you definitely have a head gasket problem.
I'd also check the thermostat. Sometimes it can give similar symptom but more often than not this will trace back to the hg.

SOURCE: how to install a oxygen sensor

There are usually two O2 sensors one on each side of the catalytic converter. Each has a wiring assemble and they are screwed into the exhaust system itself. You will need to have the engine exhaust cold as there is a risk of burn injury if it is not. Simply remove the old one usung the proper wrenches and disconnect the wiring at the connector. Reinstall the new sensor and reconnect the wiring at the connector. Make sure that the sensor is completely seated. If you have any questions please ask.

SOURCE: How do I replace the fuel pump on a 2000

In order to replace the fuel pump on this vehicle you have to disconnect the battery, jack up the rear of the vehicle and support on stands. Support the fuel tank with a jack and board in order not to puncture it, loosen the fuel tank straps and lower the tank down enough to undo the fuel lines and plug in from the sending unit once removed lower tank down the rest of the way and change the pump. Put the vehicle back together in reverse order.

2001 olds silhouette engine overheats

Time for Intake Gaskets and possibly head gaskets, very common problem with these, the intake gaskets go bad and the coolant actually burns in the cylinder and of course the cylinder pumps air into the coolant system because of intake gaskets being bad. :-(

2000 oldsmobile silhouette, just changed thermostat, still running hot, coolant fans not coming on, fuses in box okay! Is there a relay somewhere else that I need to have checked ?

Yes, there are 3 cooling fan relays. A signal is sent to the PCM from the temp sensor to kick them on. Probably a bad temerature sensor causing the fan not to kick on, but you can swap relays to see if it does first.

How do I put coolant in my oldsmobile shilouette?

add coolant to the overflow tank. when needed, the radiator will **** coolant from the overflow into the radiator. coolant is added to the overflow tank due to this being a closed - pressurized system

I have a 2000 silhouette. the coolant level low light keeps coming on even though coolant has been added. after about 10 minutes of idling the temp rises to just below h.but temp is fine while driving....

Bleed the air out of the coolant system, and add more coolant,to radiator, and reservoir, and make sure the cooling fans are coming on,if the low coolant light stays on,remove the low coolant light sensor, and clean it off,it is located on passengers side in the radiator,it has a wire clip you have to remove, and dont loose it,after cleaning it,put the clip back on the sensor, and push the sensor back in the hole.

Dexcool is specifically made for GM vehicles. However you can use any brand that says "for all makes and models" on the front of the bottle. I hope this helps.

Where is the low coolant sensor in a 2000 Oldsmobile Silhouette

It is usually a wire like gadget which projects down into the coolant overflow tank. If the coolant gets too low, an electrical circuit is closed (or opened) and a warning light is activated.

2000 oldsmobile Silhouette engine over heating and oil mixing in engine coolant

These two problems are related, your engine is overheating because there isn't enough coolant to dissipate the heat. There are three main causes for coolant in the engine oil:

1. Cracked head
2. Blown head or intake gasket
3. Cracked block.

The gaskets are an easy and relatively cheap fix, the head replacemnet isn't to difficult but will run you more than the gaskets. If the block is cracked (pretty rare) you'll need a new motor because it's going to comletelyu fail sooner or later.
