I've replaced my alternator on my 1993 honda accord 3 times althought they were aftermarket kragen products. The problem is once the new alternator goes in I'm only reading 13.2 vdc when the car is running and a about a month after installation the alternator stops working completely. Shouldn't the vdc be around 15 with a running vehicle? What could be the problem?

Hi,
Just use a normal DOT-3 brake fluid!
Just always check the color and level of the fluid!
If it is dirty( black ) u need to drain the whole system and put in a new DOT-3 brake fluid!
Is the globe blowing from overcharging ,vibration, excessive heat or poor quality globes.Take the globe to a auto electrician and they may be able to identify cause. The globe is easy to fit in upside down and if not seated properly can overheat.Alternators are starting to fail on these vehicles also,no aftermarket parts or alternators are available as of yet.Around $1400 for one from Honda. The most likely cause is poor quality globes or loose in globe holder.Fit brands such as Phillips or Tungsram.
Good Luck!!
yes it is a alternator issue. replace with a quality unit a you will get more life out of it. if you stick with autozone or kragen parts, they will last a little while but they usually have a lifetime warranty. so its really up to you as to which level of hassle you wish to conquer, money or labor. happy holidays
did you put REAL HONDA parts or aftermarket parts.....i bet you put aftermarket parts in it...Hondas and Toyotas are very sensitive about ignition parts...ONLY get the real deal....NO aftermarket junk. i did the same mistake with my 89 honda accord. never again...
Check charging system and make sure that the alternator is charging efficently and get back to me, because its electrical alternator can be defective especially if its aftermarket.( should be at least 14 volts with car running at idle) Good Luck
