My car has the same problem. It is an automatic, but when the AC is on it revvs up and down all the time. When the AC is OFF, it runs totally fine. Do I need to check the air idle control valve?

I had the same problem it is the throotle speed control valve it is located on the outside of the intake manifold it is fairly easy to get at do not go bye the book i found an easier way. it is on the manifold but is not quite visibal check the backside closest to the moter you will need a 2 inch extension cant remember the size of the golt but is quite small mayme 5 mm, the manual will help you locate it. i did not buy a new one but cleaned it instead and has worked fine since. when you get it back in and start the motor you may hear a loud howling noice but dont worry it will go away it did take about an hour of running. i did this back in november and has been fine since. hope this helps

I have a 2000 ford focus. It was stalling when Idling, So we replaced the fuel filter that didn't fix the problem. Scanned and found that it was idling at 18%, upped the idle and it quite stalling but it ate gas like a pig. Replaced the TPS, Reset idle down to normal. Now it guts out at 20KM/hr still idles. The RPM are off the roof in Park and Neutral. THe TB was cleaned, I am at a loss.

What is wrong with it, What more can I do?

Can you instigate a dpf clean on a 2008 ford focus 1.6 diesel tdci without using a diagnostic machine thanks

Yes, drive with the revs above 3000RPM for 20 minutes. Motorway driving at 70MPH is ideal.

My ford focus is reving high wen i put clutch down and is only doin 40 miles on £10 petrol

Wild revving can be a sign of a bad idle control valve, clogged fuel or air filter, fouled plugs, or bad fuel sending unit.

There are no sensors on any of these things and the ecu isn't smart enough to trouble code them.

Start with the cheap stuff and work your way up the money ladder.
