My 2005 avalanche will not engage into four wheel low

Try shifting the shift selector into Neutral first then try engaging 4wd low. If that doesn't work try shifting into 1st gear and then try engaging 4wd low. The information is inside your owners manual but if this doesn't work please let me know. Also is the light on for which mode your truck is in (2wd or 4wd high)? If not, you may want to check for a blown fuse.

Probably bad actuator. You might test to insure power is getting to it.

Got a 2004 Ford F-150 transfer case i gauges front drive shaft turns but front axle does not lock into 4 wheel drive what could be causing issue its a shift on the floor lights for low come on but not high...

Check your hubs lift front end if wheel does not turn when locked in 4x4 then hubs are not engaging turn wheel by hand or a pipe wrench on drive shaft do not try power unless all wheels are lifted

Front wheels will not spin when 4-wheel shift lever is engaged in any slection( high/low). The front drive shaft turns freely when transfer case is not engaged, is this normal? Thanks!

Try to lock the hub's manually ,on the front axel.
And yes this is normal

I have a 2004 crew cab F150 4x4 that is not working. Both lights will come on for 4x4 high or low but wheels will not engaged. When in 4x4 low transmission pulls as if in 4x4 low but front wheels will not...

I have the same problem with a 2005 Ford crew cab . Thank you.

Your front hubs are automatic locking hubs, and the gears are hard nylon. These hubs break very easily, therefore causing you to lose your front wheel drive in 4 high, or 4 low. If you replace the hubs with "WARN (name brand) " manual locking hubs, you will never have the issue again. Of course, you will have to get out of the truck and manually lock the hubs, but they are metal gears, and much more durable. I've personally seen the issue several times, and changing the hubs has resolved the issue every time.

2004 Ford F-150 extended cab FX4. 4WD problem

The malfunctioning part in my case is what ford calls the "integrated wheel end" which locs the weel hub on the four wheel drive in or out as need. Part is available from Ford and cost about $110.00. I will do this repair myself.

Ford F150 front tires won't engage in 4 wheel drive

look on fire wall pass. side you will see 2 parts with vacume lines attached 99 percent of the time that is what went i had the same problem

Operationally vacuum holds the IWE ( Integrated Wheel Ends ) out, and once vac is removed the spring engages the IWE.

Lift and support the front of the truck so the front wheels are off the ground ( take safety precautions, chock wheels, jack stands, etc )
Key on, engage 4x4 and try to turn the front drive shaft.
If it turns it is a problem with the transfer case.
If it doesn't it is a front axle engagement problem.

- If the front drive shaft does not turn :
Shut of the truck ( still jacked up, and supported ) remove the vac lines from the IWE. The spring should push the gears in, without the vac line on.
Check the vent line ( tube that is routed into the engine compartment with nothing attached to it ), for blockages.
If the vent line is clear, and with the vac lines off the IWE should be engaged ( both front wheels locked ).
If they lock, the problem is with the IWE solenoid not shutting off vacuum to the IWEs. There is a TSB on the 2004-2006 IWE solenoids, a newer revision has been made, and used from 2007 and newer MYs.
