Well i was going to scan and sent the picture here but printer wont work the tensionor is the last end of the belt you want to do. you will have to jack it up and remove the splash gaurd only 3 screw to have excess to the belt. once you are ready run the belt under the harmonic blancer going to your right go on top smog punp and around air conditioner pully go under idler pully and up and over the alternator pully down and around power steering pump and up to tensioner. now get a 156 millimeter sock or wrenc and pull down on tensioner and put belt on it done if you need to auto zone can print you a diagram out for free

Need serp. belt diagram for a 2000 ford escort zx2 dohc

If your diagram is missing from under the hood, I can give you a few tips that may help get your belt installed. (1) The belt will wrap almost completely around each pulley, no pulley will be wrapped less than 2/3 of the way around. (2) The ribbed side of the belt rides in the grooves of the pulleys, and (3) The flat side or back side of the belt wraps around the smooth pulley or pulleys. Usually at least the belt tensioner pulley is smooth and runs on the backside of the belt. You may want to start at the crankshaft pulley by determining which pulley on either side of the belt will provide the most wrap around the crankshaft pulley.Hope this gets you on the road.

I have a 92 chevy geo prizm but i can't find a diagram to change the serpentine belt

If you've lost the sticker under the hood and there is no diagram in the owner's manual, you can find it in a Haynes or Chilton's manual for your vehicle. It may even be printed on the wrapper for your new belt. Most auto parts stores also have a copy of the diagram.

If you're stuck out in the boonies, the old belt is already off, and don't have any of this information, you'll have to work it out. Start by noting the grooved side of the belt is on the inside. The crankshaft pulley on the bottom is generally grooved. Look for the next pulley in line to the upper left from the crank pulley. It is probably smooth, so the belt goes around it counter-clockwise from right to left (smooth side). Next should be a grooved pulley, so the belt would wrap around the outside in the clockwise direction. Continue working your way around in this manner until you get back to the crankshaft pulley. The rule is "clockwise is groovy." Make sure you pick up all of the pulleys. As a check on your work, verify that the belt tensioner would pull the belt tighter when installed according to your diagram. You most likely have two or even three grooved pulleys in a row at or near the top - this will be a straight shot with no wrap around a smooth pulley.

The belt tensioner is generally a smooth pulley and is often the first one off the crankshaft pulley going clockwise. The A/C clutch, power steering and alternator are generally grooved. The water pump may be either one and is often the last one going back to the crankshaft pulley. It is rare to have two smooth pulleys in a row. The belt is never arranged so it contacts itself on a full wrap. If the belt is very loose when it's engaged on the tensioner, and the tensioner spring isn't broken, you'll have to rework your tentative diagram - the belt may go across the pulleys in a different order.

The most difficult part aside from working out the proper belt wrapping is loosening the belt tensioner so you can get the belt on. Some vehicles require a breaker bar and socket on the tensioner center bolt (there's no room for a ratchet). Others have a slot in the side of the tensioner where you can insert a large screwdriver to pull against the tensioner.

How to install belt

There should be a serpentine belt routing diagram under the hood somewhere. If not, all I can tell you is that serpentine belts wrap around 3/4 of the diameter of each pulley; and the ribbed pulleys contact the inside ribbed part of the belt and smooth pulleys wrap around the outside non-ribbed part of the belt. Also it cannot be installed wrong because it's length will be too long or too short if not wrapped correctly. Hope this helps!

Hello,
I'm not sure if this will help you, but, many vehicles have the belt diagram, as well as vacuum diagram and a/c information on the bottom side of the hood.

Need diagram showing how to install belt belt came off need to know how it go on and how to ajust it

first jack up the right front tire side of your car and remove cover under your car motor, so you can see your pulleys from underneath your car, remove black cover where your timing chain belt is thats on the top center between alternator and powersteering pulleys, ok,looking at all your pulleys from your right side of your front end, starting from your top left is your alternator pulley, put belt on it and go underneath the motor mount to your right top powersteering pulley, then go down around the bottom right ac pulley, then to your left bottom crankshaft pulley, the back side of the belt thats on your top alternator pulley wraps around the soft edge pulley thats above your center waterpump pulley, then wrap around the idler pulley that's under your top alternator pulley, then wrap the backside of your remaining belt around the tensioner pulley that's in on your right, under your top ac pulley, use a 13 mm wrench to adjust by turning towards the back of your car so you can slide the belt on
