X5 dead satnav/radio display

I have a 2005 X5, the radio/sat nav display has gone dead, checked fuses - all ok, seems to be related to turning steering column on full lock last week

Interior turn signals as well as raido is not working. Checked all fuses. Ok. Disconnected battery for an hour and then reconnected to reboot. No impact.

With my X5 2001 my turn indicators on the inside of the car stopped working. The outside lights were fine. The radio clock stopped and no music. the radio will come on and off as I'm driving but still no sound. The seatbelt light message comes on when driving for no reason. and the self leveling suspension inactive light comes on. Sometimes the car will go down then come back up after I park. I checked all the fuses and put a brand new battery in the car. can some one please help.

I had the same problem with the suspension on an o2 X5 Sport,it was the stabiliser pump in the rear,Range rover is the same pump and is cheaper than the BMW part, they also do an exchange unit.

I had a very similar problem. The AA and BMW checked all fuses. The problem turned out to be an electrical cluster behind the steering wheel.
Replaced by BW for about £580!
Now need a new sat nav system at £16000 apparently - the fun of BMW ownership!

Renault Kangoo 2012 1.5dci Electrics problem

BLOWER DEAD IN DASH.
the blower must blow, or AC can not run, by laws/rule of ICE UP)
so blower is first, for sure hot outside is it
car run drives great?, and head lamps ok key off and key on?

2012 cars here USA, (we have no kangoo) all have lots of computers, in the car, and one called BCM runs most of this.
BCM means BODY BRAIN, a huge job that covered in the service manual.
We test all fuses after they kinda look ok, viewed. (meter tested !)
we next scan all PCM/BCM at the DLC scan port. or Fail
cars with any kind of EFI, electrical or transmission problems
must be scanned, or go broke GUE$$ing.

blower on High must work.
be best to diagnose that first.
what does DISPLAY bad mean?. where is it? the IP cluster, NAV or RADIO LCD?????
when cars fail
tell all that works or fail, not just fails.

Rav 4 2008. My car sat nav/radio works ok then pops, turns off and on again but loses all presets. I suspect there is a short somewhere, a loose wire perhaps, causing it to act this way? Please help!

main wire that goes directly to the battery will be the problem as this is what stores the voltage for the memory.. can be a bad fuse or bad fuse connection. or on the back of the radio the connection and fuse.

Our 2055 x5 sport has lost its satnav and screen is blank after a flat battery, I have checked fuses and disconnected battery for 10 minutes now the radio but no satnav and just a blank screen ,

need to recode the nav system. the system thinks you disconnected it and it wont work until it is recoded by the dealership.
This prevents theft as it wont work with other cars.

2001 BMW X5 radio works intermittently

Most sat nav/radio issues are caused by a flat battery! The most simple solution to try is th switch the vehicle off, go to the fuse box on the right hand panel of the boot (as your facing boot) remove fuse 24 (5 amp) for 5 minutes then replace and start vehicle as normal! This will reset the nav/stereo system! Rich B

2000 bmw x5 nav screen blank. radio works but no

I know this is an old thread, but my 2006 325i Nav screen went bank also, but the radio still played. I noticed the glove box light and trunk light did not turn on also. I was told from mechanics is was probably a CID module for $2200, even though I mentioned the glove box and trunk light light were out and specifically inquired about a fuse. The mechanics never checked the fuses, because I checked my fuses in the glove box and found the fuse 61 marked with a BMW symbol that looks like light bulb was blown. The Nav screen started back up once the fuse was changed.

BMW X5 - 2005

Hi kuldipdhanja this sounds like it could be an internal fault with the video module or the sat nav drive, you could try discontecting the battery negative lead for 15 minutes to reset the control units, you will have to remove the spare wheel and unfasten the air compressor bracket to get to the battery, this fix may only be temporary but it is alot cheaper than replacing parts. regards mark.

Can you put factory sat nav in an X5 when it does not already have it in

Hello There

Yes it is possible to install the factory sat nav in you X5, but apart from the head unit you will also need:

  1. new wiring loom
  2. dvd navigation unit installed at the back
  3. TMC radio unit again at the back
  4. bluetooth unit
All the interior needs to come out i.e seats, floor carpets, door trims.

If you feel brave enough then there are BMW forums which gives you very detailed information on how to to it, but don't expect to get it done in a day or even two, a week is probably realistic time. It took me 2 weeks to do my first 3 series.

Hope this helps. Please don't forget to rate me.

Many Thanks
