Unfortunately, there is no easy solution here. I had the same problem with my race car. I swapped a 96 2.2 into my 97 racecar and ended up having to also swap the engine wiring harness, computer, instrament cluster and pass module. The engine harness will bolt to the interior harness even though the wire colors are not the same. Just make sure you match the large yellow wire on the 96 harness to the large purple wire on the 97 harness. It sounds pretty complicated but it only took me maybe an hour to perform the swap. Now I'm back up and running and will be racing again this weekend.

Almost forgot, I ended up having to put the ignition pack into my car as well.

Buick engine swap,94 3800 motor into 97 lesabre ,is it compatable?

Well there are several 3.8 liter engines 8th digit in the vin tells it all Vin3,C,K,L are all different is small settle ways the most is ignition electronics Vin 3 engines only use the inner sensor ring on crank pulley Vin 3, c,k,l use both sensor rings but they are different also Changing the pulley is not recommended due to balance issues but the sensor rings are bolted on with sheer bolts that can be removed. Intake manifold design is the second most important plastic 2 piece and metal one piece are not inter change able.

I bought a 97 Toyota camry with a bad motor an a good motor came with it I installed it the car will nt start unless u jump the starter relay an when u put it in neutral the car dies every time u start it...

can you supply the engine numbers. engines can be the same from some years but the electrics can be of a different type 97 is on borderline when they changed the ecu and sensors. your ecu would read everything as normal but will not start. if you swap over the sensors from the old engine to the new engine it should work after this. as long as no sensor problems are on the old engine. check the part numbers and change the ones that are a different number to you old engine. there will be a few the same but most will have changed there number like cam crank and maf and prob knock sensors

Changed motor now car will not start

the computers that tell the engine when to fire are sometimes different even with the same motors - replace the sensors from the old onto the new motor and i bet it will run -

also there are sensors other than just on the engine itself - also check all ground wires - and recheck all wires and make sure none are hanging without being connect - also check ur main fuse in the fuse box under the hood -

Changed motors in my 1998 caravan, runs good at times, but then acts like not getting fuel. Put new gas filter and fuel pump on what could cause this. Drove to work yesterday morning ran fine. when got off...

You are a little vag on info,is there a mil light on, check for dtc's, when it does not crank, does the starter just clicks, replace the contacts in the soleniod, when it just turns over, is there spark, if not, you might have a problem with the cranks sensor, if it was not removed before the engine was pulled, about the 2 oclock postion on the trans bell housing , looking at the rear of engine, if this problem was not there before the engine swap, suppect the crank sensor. have you checked fuel pressure, even if the pump is new. are all the components of your swap eng the same as old engine, injectors, sensors, if you can share more info, I will help you further. GOOD LUCK, RDJRP.
