Try taking a small amount of fuel and take off your intake air hose that goes into the intake and pour a ounce or two of fuel into the intake turn the key it should start its like priming the fuel and it may start up and run fine if not you need a fuel pump.

We just had to replace the fuel pump in our 96 deville, The mechanic said that running the car with a low level of fuel can cause strain that would cause it to break,

if u just ran out of gas and it wont start first put gas in it if u have all ready done that make sure your putting at least a half tank in so you fuel pump can start up again. if it still wont start give it a bit then put it into acc just before start e brake on go to the back of your car to your gas tank under your car not were u fill and lisen for a buzzing noise thats the pump if u do not get that bring it in for maintenance.

Check your fuel pump fuse and make sure it isn't blown. The pump needs gasoline to stay lubricated....the pump may have died when you ran out of gas. Can you hear the pump come on when you turn the car on?

Sounds like fuel pump burned out when you ran out of gas. probably ran dry for about 20 sec till engine quit. Check for power to fuel pump in tank.Most likely fuel pump will need replacement . Hope this helps
