I have the same problem after filling up my 2003 SantaFe I have to rev it up and through it into drive to keep it from stalling. I have had my fuel pumps replaced which solved my fuel gauge issues but not my stalling issues. I am going to heed this advice and bring it back to have the purge valve replaced.I have the same problem after filling up my 2003 SantaFe I have to rev it up and through it into drive to keep it from stalling. suspect the fuel filter. if you replaced the fuel filter & still stall, use fuel pressure gauge to check the fuel system. (could be bad fuel pressure regulator or fuel pump.)
I had a similar problem with my Santa Fe. It occurred intermittently but after I turned the steering wheel to the left. After much screwing around by the dealer and trying to baffle me with BS we heard about a strange solution. I am not a mechanic but the problem somehow related to a spring in the Airbag on the steering wheel. Changed the spring and "Stone the flame'n crows" problem solved. Never had a problem since.
Did some research and found quite a few people with the same problem. All solutions were the same. Replace the Purge Control Valve, Hyundai part number 28910-22040. It is covered under warranty.
sounds like a fuel problem. have your pump checked or check with your manual if it has a replacement mark. or it could even be as cheap as replacing your fuel filter.
was the engine lite on before it quit? maybe there is a code in the system that will direct to the cause area. my first guess with those symptoms would be a crank position sensor.
