You may have to replace the converter. When the converter go bad it generally would transmit black smoke. This would prevent you from passing vehicle smog inspections.

P29096 and p0133 code Not passing smog. Originally had two codes Inc o2 and inc cat and no engine light On so did not pass. Moved some 02 sensors and engine light suddenly appears now. Now I get p2096 and...

code p 0133 is the heated oxygen sensor (HO2S)1 bank 1 so response --no response or--no signal=== causes wiring--heating inoperative---HO2S -- o2 sensor ( oxygen sensor
the HO2S is in the exhaust manifold before the cat converter and the O2 sensor is after the cat converter
the code p 2096also refers to the HO2S --wiring short to positive --cat converter--exhaust leak ( possible the flex section in the exhaust pipe before the cat converter

How to tune up a 1995 Geo Prizm? not passing smog, They told me to tune up and get new cataylic converter, but wont guarantee it will pass smog test.

A tune is just replacing the spark plugs every 100,000 miles and the air filter every 30,000, clean oil is also a help in passing smog, the new converter is what will most likely do the trick.

did your replace the whole cat?, if not is the cat still good? If not your might have to replace that. the cat cuts 80% of the emissions.

My 2003 kia sedona won't pass emissions the codes are p0320 p0431. Help please

code p 0320 refers to crankshaft position(CKP) sensor /engine speed ( RPM) sensor ---circuit malfunction===causes --wiring---CKP/RPM sensor---ECM
code p 04310 refers to warm up catalytic converter, bank 2--efficiency below threshold===causes ---cat converter---wiring---HO2S 2
As it is not passing the smog test I would be replacing the HO2S sensor ( manifold or before the cat on bank 2 of the engine ) or more likely a failed cat converter
you may have had the P 0320 code for a long time and have not noticed a drop in performance but as cat converters have a lot to do with smog control , that is the area I would advise checking first

2001 Tahoe no check engine light. will not pass smog due to stored trouble codes. air valves , catalytic converter

you have to have the codes erased and then drive for a while, at least 100 miles and it should pass providing there are no other issues.

My 1999 kia sephia wont pass smog test

You will need to get it scanned and get the codes for the problem. If it failed the test due to emissions I would almost guarantee it will be your oxygen sensor or cat

Failed smog test due to CEL - second opinion please - not sure I believe mechanic

I have a 98 Montero Sport and have yet to fail a test. I have changed a CAT Converter for 200 and some O2 sensors for 50 per since i had the car. you can get a aftermarket universal O2 sensor at a good price as for the CAT Converter ya they are expensive I just knew the guy. As for the dash light disconect your battery it will reset it

My car dosent pass the smock check they tell me is a problem on the cat of a hiunday sonata 1993

Do you mean smog inspection? The "cat" is the catalytic converter....part of the exhaust system that removes pollution from the car. Get estimates on a replacment converter from any local muffler shop
