Welcome to Fixya

It means that the problem is with the alternator. It wont give charge to the battery that will supply power to the car. That is why you dont have power steering also. Try to replace the alternator. Make sure not to buy aftermarket alteranators.

My 2003 Ford escape power steering wheel got stiff out of nowhere, right after I started having problems with my battery and alternator... help please

You have an electrical problem. Power steering cannot work without power and since you are having battery and alternator problems, you are probably trying to operate the car with a dead battery or faulty electrical system.
Have the electrical system checked by a few different reputable mechanics and get 3 quotes for repairs without sharing the information from one shop to the next.
Make sure you understand the warranty on the work and the cost of labor before you choose a service provider.
Edmunds has some interesting discussions on battery power losses in Ford Escapes around your year.

Battery won't keep charge

sounds to me you have a faulty power steering unit, if it blown the fuse you must have electric power steering. I suspect your power steering is draining the battery. (internal short in power steering unit) If your battery won't hold or take a charge, replace it. check your alternator as well as that charges the battery.

Go to the battery positive area around that area is a 80 or 60 amp fuse once it open you get a steering fault basically a steering fault is a low battery charge system

2004 ford explorer front end loose feels like its all over the road. Could this be wheel bearing or steering parts?

Hello most likely it is going to be more serious than a wheel bearing you really should take you vehicle in to have the front end examined this is nothing to play with if a tire rod snaps of you might find your self with no steering control at all. Most garages usually do not charge to quote your problem if you do not like the quote try another lace for reassurance

My trooper died. It was making a "clakity" sound

fan could have been hitting radiator but those vehicles are known for having problems with the timing components. And a radiator under the vehicle is most likely a cooler for the power steering. Its possible that the belt stopped turning due to a pully like the power steering pully not moving causing the vehicle to not charge the battery. That will cause the vehicle to die after the battery runs down
