limited info generic answer check and test battery -- most likely the key fob itself is failing you can have some one test fob or get another fob[s] and have programmed
The key fob will need to be reprogrammed to the vehicle since when the battery was replaced in the key fob, the key was reset. This is why nothing is working with the key fob. After replacing the battery in the key fob remote, you will need to reprogram the remote to the vehicle
Most people think you have to program the key fob to match the car. In fact, the opposite is true - you have to program the car to respond to the key fob. You'll need to have all your key fobs handy and follow some instructions precisely. https://itstillruns.com/reset-kia-after-battery-disconnected-7650450.html
The only way I am aware of is to see the key/fob/remote programming guy at a carmax or similar newer car sales place. They are independent contractors who show up once or twice a week to reprogram the cars entry devices. It costs about $75 if they don't need to provide you with a new fob. $150 if they do.
battery may be flat in the fob or the vehicle has forgotten the code for the fob. and will need resetting. change the battery use the key to open the door put key in the ignition. ( fob Ir old type leave fob off the key) turn to number 2 and press fob till doors lock and unlock. then its reset. dont be worried if the alarm goes off while doing this it will go off when the code is restored. if you have 2 fobs you will need to rest that one to.
There are a few things you can do to get your key fob working like new again:
1) Wipe the board
The board inside your remote can get a lot more filthy than you think! When the board is dirty it can prohibit the contact to the circuit board when you push down on the button. Simply wiping the circuit board off can make your key fob like new again!
2)Get it checked
Go to your local hardware store like AutoZone or Oreilly's. They usually have a RF frequency tester. This little gadget will let you know if your key fob is sending a signal. If it is, you may need to reprogram your key fob to your vehicle
3)The old car battery reset trick
I know this sounds absurd, but it works sometimes and is worth trying. If you exhausted all of the options above, disconnect both terminals on your car battery for 10 minutes. Then reconnect them and try your key fob. This has worked for many people and I have no idea why. If you do, please comment below to explain.
4)New fob!
It might be time for a new key fob! No need to dread over the expensive costs of a new key fob, at Keyless Entry Remote Fob Inc., you can get a refurbished one for a very affordable price! You won't even be able to tell the difference. Just search your vehicle make, model, and year to purchase a key fob or give us a call at 402-671-5100.
Hi,
Kindly submit the question under 1999 Toyota Avalon section on the website by clicking this link so that the best car experts can view and post a solution to the problem.
hi you can do this but you will have to have a key that does not have a remote/fob on it ( basically just go get one cut cheaply ) then to reprogram keys/key fob's
first using the key without fob, turn ignition on ( do not turn over, just to position 2)
then lock drivers door with other key ( do not use fob, just the key itself with fob
now complete the following within 30 seconds
within 5 seconds( of locking the car) press the unlock button on the first key once ( this programs that key as key memory1)
the indicators should flash once to indicate signal received
wait 5 seconds then press unlock on key fob
vehicle should then unlock meaning key fob has been programmed and programming ended
open door turn ignition off , and that's it, it should work if you have more than 1 key with fob, do the same as above but instead of pressing unlock once, you do it twice, if third key 3 x if fourth key 4 x etc etc,
The only reset is if the key fob and the receiver get out of sync, to check that be out side of the car doors closed and unlocked. Press both lock and unlock buttons on the remote (key fob) at the same time if the doors lock and unlock that was your problem. It could be the battery it could be the key fob or the receiver.
What do you mean by reset? do you mean reprogram it?
