Car dies while driving

I have a 2002 Nissan Sentra with about 66,000+ miles on it. About a week ago, my car suddenly died while I was driving. I pulled off the road, turned off my car, and started it right back up again. Then yesterday, my car died again while I was driving. Again, I turned it off and started it right back up so I continued driving. When I later stopped and put my car in park, my car kept revving up on its own until I finally turned it off. It started back up just fine. Any ideas???

Even with it being 6 years old?

My 1997 nissan sentra did the same thing. i found out that the distributer rotor would some how break the scerw that was holding it on and the car would suddenly DIE. it had me stranded like 3 times before i figured out the problem. but it would shudder a little bit here and there before that started. so maybe if you check your distributor rotor you ma find your problem?

car dies then cranks back to die again

I can be driving down a road and there is a tiny click and the car shuts down, it restarts right away (using key) and can do this a few times in a row and then wont do it again for the rest of the day. No codes come up on computer.

Well the saga 1994 LHS continues.........Replaced the PCM with a new one from MOPAR car started and ran great. Took it for a good long drive (20 minutes - various speeds) ran great, however, noticed that at about 50 the speedo suddenly died (went to zero and motor stumbled) but recovered. This did not happen again. Let my son take it back to University (90 miles) no issues ran smooth. Today he went out started right up and let her run 10-15 minutes. Put it in gear and the !$@# died. Now back to cranking with no ignition (not starting). Did the key dance and no codes. Matter of fact my son says the light does not flash at all...Not scanning at all?!?? Noticed when it stumbled on the test drive I was goofing around with the cruise control as it was not functioning....wondering if the two are related???? IDEAS???!

i drove my fiance's car home yesterday she said it started "jumping" when she stopped at the redlight i noticed it when i started driving it when you first start it it will idle fine but when you put it in gear and start down the road it will start to lack power like is starving for fuel my first thought was fuel filter but wanted to see if anybody had encountered this problem before?

I think that your crank angle sensor failed. Is the check engine light on?? if so, scan it and get code. If the code is P0335, than you need new crank angle sensor. Nissan has been having some problems with those even on other Nissan products. (Altima, Pathfinder and so on) Good luck.

What could be causing my 02 Nissan Sentra to restrict revs then stall at highway speed?

Your first order of business is to check the oil level in the crankcase, and bring it up to full level. You can probably find a replacement dip stick, or go to a junkyard and get one. Without sufficient oil in the engine, The will seize. or prematurely die.
Is your check oil light coming on? Have the car scanned for trouble codes. Auto Zone and Advance Auto will a scan. Then you will be able to get info on the codes and what they identify. Just look the codes up on an internet search.

If the cable is broken or stuck, you will have to try to access the latch from under the car - or take the front bumper cover and grille out.

The engine light in my car came on about 2 and a half weeks ago. I brought it to the mechanic for a diagnostic test and they said that my catalytic converter needs to be replaced. My engine has been...

Your car does in fact need a new catalytic converter. And it should also not burn a drop of oil. It can burn oil as it seeps past leaking intake valves and piston rings.

I highly recommend you do not even start the engine again until the exhaust and intake valves have been inspected and replaced as needed, it has a new catalytic converter and a complete tune up.

2002 Nissan Sentra turns over but will not start

pull one of the coils out of the eng and attach the sparkplug and check for spark. if you don';t have any spark i suggest replacing the crank sensor. if you hae spark check for fuel pump activation. last and most unlikely ecm failure

Electrical short

Your problem is pointing to the alternator. Since you say the alternator is only a year old, the I would check the tension on the belt (deflection should be about 1/2 an inch), and the belt itself. Your problem most likely lies in either the belt, belt tensioner (if applicable), or alternator.

Engine does not run smooth

Sounds like a fuel problem, Bad fuel pump relay of actual fuel pump check relay first may be working intermittently.( Replace relay first before going to pump). Good luck thanks for using FIX YA

My 05 Sentra died twice on me and is running very sluggish...

it could be that your fuel pump could be weak. or that it's in the electrical circuit of your fuel system. what that means is that the sensors that help read the performance of your fuel system could be malfunctioning. this would involve the O2(oxygen) the TPS(throttle position sensor. or it could be the fuel pressure regulater. you could probably go to a small garage and have scan done cheaper than if you take it to a dealership.hope this helps please rate this ......thanks and good luck
