Where is the location of the crankshaft position sensors on a 97 Cadillac Deville. It stalls at red lights and stop signs and I've heard a new crankshaft position sensor is a possible solution. I've got two of them to replace the two on there but I can't seem to find the location of them anywhere online. Please 'n' thanks, B

If the MIL (Malfunction Indicator Light) or "Check Engine Light" is on with a DTC (Data Trouble Code) (P0335-P0340) then the crankshaft sensor would most likely be the problem, however if there is no DTC and the "MIL" is not on when the engine is running, then that is usually an indication that the fuel pump or the ignition module is faulty. If the engine stalls and there is still good fuel pressure in the fuel rail then the ignition module is most likely faulty. If the engine stalls and there is low or no fuel pressure in the fuel rail then the fuel pump is most likely faulty.

The check engine light doesn't have to come on with a bad crank sensor ,your vehicle has two , one for lower rpm an one for higher speeds . A&B
The two crankshaft sensors are located on the front bank (BANK 2) of the engine block between cylinders 4 and 6. Crankshaft position A sensor is located in the upper crankcase and crankshaft position B sensor is located in the lower crankcase. Both sensors extend into the crankcase and are sealed to the engine block with O-rings. The crankshaft position sensors are not adjustable.

SOURCE: 97 cadillac deville only overheats on hills it has

The most common overheating problem with the Northstar engine is a blocked purge line. It's job is to purge air out of the cooling system.
There is a small diameter hose coming from near the top of the coolant tank, this is the purge line.
With the engine idling, pull the purge line from the tank,if there is no coolant flow from this small hose,it is blocked and this will cause overheating. If the hose is clear, check for blockage at the nipple on the tank.Or trace the hose back until you find the blockage. The hose goes in to the engine to a crossover and comes out the other side to near the thermostat housing, the blockage may be there.

SOURCE: how to replace front swaybar

If the rubber is not worn out deteriorated, the problem if you have rattles over bumps may not be the bushings. It may be the stabilizer links (these links attach to the strut at the top and to the sway bar at the bottom. These links were a very high failure item. Thank you

Tying to find crank sensor for 2002 Cadillac Seville std 4.6 liter

This answer covers 1999-2005 Cadillac Deville, Eldorado & Seville.
Example Engine:
2002 Cadillac Seville STS 4.6L SFI DOHC HO 8cyl.

This engine has (2) Crankshaft Position (CKP) Sensors: the Upper sensor is CKP sensor B, and the lower sensor is CKP sensor A (this is included for the OBD-II DTC codes - P0385 references Sensor B = upper CKP sensor, whereas P0335 references the lower CKP sensor (sensor A)).

Both crankshaft position sensors are located in the front of the engine just above the oil filter adapter. To access both CKP sensors, jack up vehicle on the passenger side, remove the oil filter, and the oil filter adapter, including the Engine Oil Pressure (EOP) switch. See illustration.

The ARROW points toward Front of Car.
1. Upper Crankshaft Position Sensor (B).
2. Lower Crankshaft Position Sensor (A)
3. Engine Oil Pressure (EOP) switch
4. Engine Oil Level switch
The Oil Filter is the can-type object below the oil filter adapter, which includes the EOP switch. Recommend: remove oil filter with an oil filter socket/strap wrench, since it's close to the oil pan.

Were is the crank sersor located on the car

The crankshaft position sensor on the Cady DeVille is located behind the crankshaft pulley. To replace follow these instructions:
  • Disconnect the wiring harness connector from the crankshaft position sensor by pulling the tangs on the side of the connector away from the plug and pulling the plug off the sensor.

  • Unbolt the sensor's retaining bolt, using the appropriate socket. Remove the sensor and its O-ring from the block.

  • Clean the mating surface on the block with a rag. Ensure that the new O-ring is on the new sensor. Install the sensor and tighten the retaining bolt firmly. Do not over-tighten the bolt, as you will damage the sensor.

  • Plug in the wiring harness connector, ensuring that it snaps into place.

2003 Cad Deville, while driving engine stopped. put car in neutral turned switch and it started right up, this is twice this happened, 46,000 miles on car.

Hello,Your car probably has the 4.6 northstar engine. This (phantom stall) condition is usally caused by 1 or both of the Crankshaft position sensors.I have seen this condition quite frequently on your perticular car.I would replace both of the crank sensors and that should do the trick.you might want to take it to a repair shop due the location of the sensors (front lower part of engine near oil filter) Good luck.
