Do not start your car but you have to get this towed to the nearest service for the replacement of the timing belt . This is very important as you might damage the engine with the timing belt broken.
Also the timing settings and the tensioner has to be set to the standard required according to the specifications.

I purchased the timing belt and pulley kit for a 1999 zr2 complete instructions came with the pulley set (Dayco brand) also bought the Haynes manual for the escort and not very good directions in it. The one that came from Dayco were very good.

YOUR ENGINE DOEN NOT HAVE A TIMING BELT IT IS A CHAIN.REMOVE THE DISTRIBUTOR CAP AND SEE IF THE ROTOR IS TURNING WHEN THE ENGINE IS CRANKED OVER.IF NOT THE CHAIN OR DISTRIBUTOR GEAR COULD BE BROKEN.HAVE U TESTED FOR FUEL?
