SOURCE: audi a4 mixing water and oil together hissing,grey/brown foam

Very likely that you have a blown headgasket, not uncommon at all. I would take it to a good shop soon, driving it like this will damage it further. I did this very job not long ago and something that struck me about it at the time, was how unbelievably expensive the headgasket set was. I just checked, $350. just for the gasket set, list price from my local supplier. Checked Ebay, $98. You could save a few bucks getting the parts off Ebay if your shop will do the work with your parts.

2010 Dmax loss of power

Hi Alan,

Would help if you could pull that fault code out that generated the CEL to come on.

Anyway, I would start by checking out the turbo, MAF sensor and catalic converter are common problems for the 4JJ1 engine.

When driving my 1997 Audi A 4 1.8t there is a loss of power around 3000 rpm, what could be causing the issue?

run the fault codes and look for a problem area in the vane actuator of the turbo
it could be a sensor problem or a MAP sensor problem
this is indicated by the pressures being generated or not generated by a turbo generating pressure from the throttle opening on acceleration or held at constant speed

Audi tt 1.8 quattro oil light stays on and the turbo doesnt seem to be workin ,, cud it be blown , there is no power when i change gear

Most turbos get their lubrication from engine oil. If the car got low enough on oil for the light to come on, there is a good chance the bearings in the turbo are "fried".

Does the engine make any unusual noises (knocking, rattling, etc.?). You may have run low enough on oil to not only ruin the turbo bearings, but also damage engine bearings.

This is probably a good candidate for a visit to your local mechanic.

I realize this is all somewhat vague, but within the limits of the info provided, it's about the best I can come up with.

If it does become necessary to visit a local mechanic, ask around (friends, co-workers, etc.) for any recommendations they might provide.

Good luck!

Engine light on, heavy smoke and engine burning smell (Audi 1.8T)

First off, how the Hell did they issue a DOT Cetificate, if the Emissions are known to be off the clock. Without causing stress, do you have, or can obtain the Emission Test Result Print Out from the Testing Station test Equipment. This is something they cannot refuse. DO NOT AUTHORISE ANY REPAIRS Come back TO ME with your story.

2002 audi a4 oil light issue

There are potentially two different problems here.
1. A fault with the actual oil pressure.
2. An electrical fault with the switching circuit.

If you are confident the problem is not with the oil pressure, disconnect the wiring from the switch for a period of time. If the light still comes on periodically the fault must be with the wiring circuit shorting to earth. There will be no fire hazard to this approach as the voltage will drop over dash lamp.

However if the problem is with the oil supply system, the danger with this approach is you are potentially unaware of a serious problem

Such as the oil filter collapsed or the oil pressure release spring could be jammed open/closed which would cause the engine to not have the correct operating pressure.

Loss of power going up grade

sounds like a very common problem on turbo vag vehicles, the variable vains are sticking in the turbo, your fault code would have said....turbo boost pressure not reached.....common with v v t turbos, run a good quality fuel cleaner through it ,if that doesnt work then a new turbo is the only cure
