HOW DO I BLEED A COOLING SYSTEM 98 HONDA CIVIC

My 1998 honda civic has been revving like crazy when its idling. I read that trapped air in the cooling system could be causing this. So, how do i bleed the cooling system?

I believe the previous solution is confusing your AC system with your cooling system. Trapped air in the coolant is unlikely to occur anyway.
Check rubber hoses around the intake. Look for loose clamps or collapsed hoses that can leak air into the intake bypassing the throttle; a vacuum leak.
If OK, locate the engine temperature sensor for the engine control system. (Look in a parts catalog or service manual for the car). It may be defective. I'm assuming from your OP that the Engine light is not staying on. If it does stay on, there may be a trouble code saved in the engine control computer.

Sounds like your fan is not turning on, check that first. if there is air in your system you have a leak. you cant bleed the cooling system, you have to first recover the freon, preasurize it to see if you have a leak, if no leak vacuum the lines then add freon.

I have a 2000 honda civic ferio, when i park the car and before i shut it off the idle will go up and down for a few seconds and stop. does this car have a tps?

It could be a tps issue. It could also be air pockets in the cooling system messing with the idle control valve.

Car is revving with no foot on gas...car in park

My wife's Civic had a surging idle after I did cooling system work on it as well - it does that when the coolant is low. You still need to burp the cooling system. That will get the air bubbles out of the system and free up the room in the system for the rest of the coolant the car needs. Click my screenname, go to my Tips and Tricks, and look there - I have a posted procedure on how to do this. It's easy, requires no tools, and it WILL stop the surging as well as keep you from overheating the engine when you start driving the car again.

check your wiring for dirty connections or broken wires, you may have wires that are rubbed through or connectors that are not making full contact. you will need an ohm meter and check wires for continuity. a wiring diagram will be needed.

try bleeding the air out of the cooling system right after you start the motor up. this will allow you to get all the air out but not steam. do this until the coolent comes out. common cause, it could be vapor locking and not letting the coolent flow causing OVERHEATING. hope this helps
