Why does my #2 and #7.5 fuses always blow when I turn my key over? How do a find the short? I also have to remove my cluster panel fuse in order for the car to maintain battery power, otherwise the battery drains.

Unfortunately, it sounds like you have a short in the wiring or in the gauge cluster itself.

There are multiple ways to diagnose this issue, however they do take a certain level of diagnostic and electrical circuit knowledge.

One of the easier ways that requires minimal invasive testing is to remove the gauge cluster from the vehicle and disconnecting the cluster itself. It is usually only a few fasteners and panels. Most novice technicians and hobbyists can do this type of work.

After doing so, replace the fuse #33 (10A) GAUGE with a new fuse, and start the vehicle and let it idle. See if the fuse blows after 5 minutes. If it does, you know the issue is on the control, or circuit, side. If it does not blow, replace the cluster or have it rebuilt.

EF1 (engine fuse) 1 good?
dash fuse 14 and EF1 can kills emerg. flasher

so of Emergancy flash lamps blows fuse 14,(smaller of 2)
then the blinkers are in fact shorted.
does it?
if yes, then find out which side blows the fuse 3.
turns left blow or turns right blows.
so if say turns right blows, F4 fuse.
if true ?remove all bulbs front rear right bulbs.
does the fuse hold now,(means not blown)
then buy new lamps there. problem solved
bulbs can in fact short.
not just blow open.

For sure emergency flash,

have an auto electrician check it over for a short or overload,could be any of a number of things . the systems that become active with the turning of the key may be the source of the problem. could be a short in the wiringgbehind the instrument binacle

Have the battery checked first (load tested).

If it's the GAUGE fuse than there are a lot of components on this wire. The smarter thing to do before you replaced all that stuff would have been to unplug those items, install a fuse, turn the key on and see if it blows. Obviously at this point we know it would have. Since the rear defrost, DRL, audio alarm, ac relay, 4x4 system and keyless entry module shape this fuse it may be a good idea to to get yourself a good wiring diagram and a good volt meter to track down the shorted component or wire.

you have a dead short immediately after the fuse Check wiring for rub points/ pinch points. Check all bulb sockets to ensure that the power wire is not touching earth or the earth wire.

Try to remove the instrument panel and disconnect the harness to see if doing that gets rid of the blown fuse when starting the car. If it does, then the instrument panel should be replaced with another. If the fuse still blows when starting, then there is a wire shorted to ground somewhere.

Instruments and Switches Instrument Cluster Removal & Installation To Remove:

1. Remove the instrument cluster trim plate.
2. Remove the instrument cluster mounting screws.
3. Rotate the instrument cluster rearward and lift up on the top of the cluster in order to disengage the locating pins.
4. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the instrument cluster.
5. Remove the instrument cluster.

To Install:

1. Connect the electrical connectors to the instrument cluster.
2. Position the locating pins to the holes in the instrument panel.
3. Install the instrument cluster by rotating the top inward.
4. Install the mounting screws.
5. Install the trim plate.

constant and instant blowing fuse is a short circuit. if man-handling and manipulating the wiring harness as it comes thru the frame to the door doesn't make any difference, it's almost always a bad window regulator/motor assembly inside the door cavity behind the panel, but can be the (a) switch as well. remove the door handle or perhaps an access panel to gain access to the wiring harness. unplug the switches and pigtail connector to the regulator/motor. replace fuse and turn key on. if short is inside the door the fuse won't blow. reconnect one connector (or switch) at a time to isolate shorted component or wire. replace bad component or repair wire.

which engine, wiring varies by Egnine G16, J20, H25? what?
a fuse blows to stop the fire from a shorted power feed.
the fuses have names and numbers. with that info.
i can tell you all paths that can short for that fuse.

what you do is pull all loads 1 by 1 on that shorted feed.
if still blows the harness is shorted (long hard inspections, or 15min work with my ammeter short finder (magnetic)
