Hi, I have a 1990 buick regal V6 3.8L. Recently it stalled out on me while driving. Had to wait15 minutes and it started and I got home. Yesterday it died again while in traffic. Got it home but now it only will run for a few seconds before cutting off . Is it the fuel filter or more like a fuel pump replacement, which I believe is in the tank. Please help with your expert advice. Thanks . D.

1988 buick regal stalls and restarts stalls and restarts

Sounds like a relay or coil failing.
To proceed you would need to find out if you are loosing spark to the plugs or fuel pressure to the injectors when it won't start.

I have an 1990 buick regal custom and stalls when im griving it then dies can anyone help me on how to fix it.

Sounds to me like a fuel filter. When was the last time it was changed?Because if a car starts and runs till you give it gas under load then dies it is a fuel problem.Start by chaging fuel filter and if problem still persists then next thing to check is fuel pump.

I have a 1990 Buick Regal that stalls...

You might try a crank sensor, most of the time if you pull it out you may see a crack in it. It's between the top of the oil pan an the transmission, good luck.

I have a 1990 Buick Regal that stalls while accelerating. And then wouldn't start at all. After letting it cool for a few minutes it started but continued stalling. Before this started happening it was...

most likley a fuel pump issue. The only way to know for sure is hook up a pressure gauge and when you have symptoms check the pressure. If you spray some brake cleaner or quick start when it doesnt start and it does start then this is an indication of a failed fuel pump or fuel pump relay. If it still does not start when you spray then you have an ignition issue like a crank sensor or ignition module.

1999 Regal GS -stalls, starting trouble, won't shift now

the batt is suspect...take it to autozone, or other place, they'll check it out free......the shifting out of park is a seperate issue, the pawl for the steering/shifter is not working properly....did you notice if the steering wheel would turn when the shifter is stuck?....probably not....when this happens try to turn the wheel back and forth-not hard but not gently- a little graphite dust sprayed in there would help.......hope this helps you out

Stalling

Where all those parts, so bad, they had to be replaced? You tested them to determine that, and only then, you replaced them? Correct? Now you need help?

Continous surging and stalling

Per your description, I would suspect a fuel pump issue. When the fuel pump is running the pump impeller heats up. On an older pump the impeller can begin to seize up and momentarily stops and starts. Some times it just stops and has to cool down for a couple of minutes, then is ok for a while.
To test this theory, when the engine stalls and stops, your mechanic can use a rubber mallet and hit the bottom of the gas tank, this will free the pump impeller and the car will start again.
Or, have him install a fuel pressure gauge and go for a drive. If the pressure begins to fluctuate and drop, you know the pump is causing the issue.
Good luck, let me know.
