What happens when you try to start, does it crank, or just click? When you turn off an engine, it heats up a little. If there's an electric fan on the engine, it should start up to continue cooling the engine/radiator.

Consider taking it back to the place that serviced it; they may see what they changed, left undone.

Replace the fuel filter first. This will take pressure of the fuel pump, make it pump more efficient. Catalytic converters will also cause this kind of problem.

Car won't turn over randomly

When it will not crank, a mechanic would check for voltage at the starter, the clutch safety switch, and the key switch.

Car starts then will shut off

The first thing I would check with the limited information that you gave, is to have the fuel filter changed if you haven't done so. We need more information to diagnose other problems, including engine size, etc. Hope this helps you, Rick
