Rear seat won't fold down (60 part of 60/40 seat)

I have always been able to fold down both parts of the 60/40 rear seats. A few weeks ago, I had both sections folded down and then put them both back up. After that, the 60 part of the seat won't fold over anymore ... I am trying to take the seat apart to see what is wrong but am having a hard time. Anyone know how to fix this?

My 2003 Pilot has the exact same problem. Unfortunately the solution offered here did not work for me. Any other thoughts?

Sounds like an issue of defect. I have the same issue for the release latch on my '03 pilot as well. I'll try the double latch thingy as stated to see if it works.

I had the same problem on my '03. The seats would not fold down using the latch release as I had always done. So I tried a combination of pulling up on the side latch AND the top latch and the seat folded down. It really doesn't FIX the problem but circumvents offending defective part. I will use this method until it doesn't work then I might shell out the $$$$$ to the dealer.

Latch by passenger door is turned directly by lever. Cable runs through back of seat to center latch. My cable has slipped or something and doesn't pull the center latch. I was able to force turn the center pulley that the cable should be turning. In hindsight, there's a screwdriver slot in the end of the shaft, but the plastic cover blocks it. I'd bend the plastic out of the way as much as possible and try to get a screwdriver on the end of the pivot shaft. Once I got it down, I drilled a hole in the plastic cover to easily get access to the end of the shaft. Still need to solve the loose cable problem, but at least I can get the seat down.

didnt specify vehicle --generic answer --on most cars their is a release --on door --on floor by drivers seat -in glove box--as to rear seat release most are in trunk if seat does fold down --if non fold down then need to remove bottom seat either push down and back or unbolt then same with back part of seat

Can you fold down rear seat on 2007 chevy malibu

To fold-down rear seat on 2007 Chevy Malibu, follow these steps:
1. Open the trunk
2. Pull on one or both the handles located on the upper side of the trunk
3. The handle located on the driver's side will unlatch the bigger part of the read seat
4. The handle on the passenger side will fold down the smaller portion of the rear seat.
5. Once done, you will have a seat that's nicely folded down.

Rear seat on my Note won't fold down. When I pull the handle up nothing happens. Any ideas?

Are we talking about Nissan Notes here? I have the same problem with my 2006 Note where the larger of the 2 split seats in the rear won't fold down. It doesn't have any side latches or boot straps and yanking it hard doesn't work either. I can't see any options other than complete removal of the whole rear seat assemby.

How fold down rear seats of a 2005 chevy impala

To fold down, follow these steps:
1. There is a loop located in the middle of the back seat - pull it forward and the bottom part of the rear seat will fold down
2. Wedge the the back seat, and it should not give you any trouble in folding down
3. To ensure that the seat goes all the way down- remove the headrest.
If your seat can not be folded-down, follow these steps to remove it:
1. Put some pressure on the bottom cushion of the back seat.
2. To release the bottom seat, pull the T handles, and then remove the cushion
3. There will be some bolts and screws on the bottom of the seat - remove them, and then you can pull out the seat.

The straps which allow me to unlock latch to fold down the rear seats are missing. (I had the car detailed some time ago; seems they were not re-installed.) Is there any other way to get the rear seats...

Are you sure they weren't just tucked under the seat? check for the straps - if they are missing you can install a string or a shoelace in place of the strap, making sure to tie it securely to the little hook for the strap. Sometimes you'll need to use a pair of long nose pliers to pull on the strap mount to fold the seats down to give you room to work.

The rear seat backs do not fold down in these trucks, the seat bottom lifts up to gain access to the compartments below but the seat back does not fold down. The only thing you can do is physically remove the rear seats.
