Hi - I have just taken my megane 1.6 auto and I can tell you there was a problem with the design - and it will need genuine Renault parts to rectify it -crank positon sensor - TDC sensor - the uodated version has to be wired in further along in the harness -but the dealers will never admit to this - so pretend you are in an advert

Hi can someone please help me with the Renault scenic 2003 , will not start after crankshaft pulley change it just will not kick over it wants to but dosn start

I had exactly the same thing on my Renault megan scenic. I spent a fortune trying different things like the immobiliser etc etc. Eventually I went to a small back street garage who immediately said " crank shaft sensor" - he replaced it a year ago and that fault has never happened again ! (Although I wont be buying another Renault as I've had tons of other stuff go wrong since - but not connected with the crank shaft sensor).

My mechanic has told me my cylinder number 4 has no compression, what is the best and worst case scenario in my renault megane dynamique 2006,could this be a very costly job,

Whatever the cause, the cylinder head will have to come off, so you are looking at some engine rebuilding. If the bottom end of the engine is still good (the pistons and piston rings and bearings on the crankshaft), you might get by with a head and valve job. Not cheap, but cheaper than a complete rebuild. Have your mechanic do a leakdown test before teardown, to pinpoint the reason for no compression in that cylinder.

Renault Megane Dynamique - 1600 - 2005 - car wouldnt start this morning - called breakdown who said flat battery - jumped started it. Radio now not working - asking for code???? any ideas. Diane

To obtain your code the radio has to be removed from the dashboard in order to find the following information

Then post the radio MAKE+MODEL plus ALL the LETTERS+NUMBERS on ANY LABELS ,BARCODES or STAMPED IN THE METAL CASING

Most RENAULT codes can be calculated on this forum

Light steering

See if you have a power steering pressure switch. Some cars have a variable orifice power steering switch that varies pressures based on speed and how fast you are turning. For example, in a parking lot (low speeds), power assist would be greatest whereas at higher speeds, it would be lowest. If you have a power steering pressure switch on the car, that could be ur problem.

Check your plugs again, make sure they aren't gunked up already or covered in oil or anything. Double check the spark gaps on them as well.
