1987 chevy spectrum just got it for son. sat for a year (w/fuel in it). cleaned carb, added treatment, changed fuel filter, plugs. runs good accept when you are at a stand still (stop light, sign, etc.) when you take your foot off brake and if you do not immediately mash gas it stalls. Also, while driving uphill seems to want to decline in speed. Have been told throttle position sensor, diaphragm, pressure regulator...all of which we cant find (literally in car or to purchase). cant find diagrams of the car online to locate position of items in vehicle and when you look up parts on car part sites it shows the item itself but "unavailable" any suggestions?

If it's a carbureted system, maybe the idle speed can be adjusted with a screw. Not sure on the Chevy Spectrum.

Is this Chevy Spectrum the carbureted model or the Fuel Injected model?

If carbureted maybe the idle stop solenoid is bad.
This will be located near or on the carburetor throttle cable pulley.

1980 Chevrolet LUV Mikado pickup sputtering could be carb?

Just as an extra I would suggest you change the air filter as well as that is usually included when you change out the other filters.
Most Automotive Carbs rarely fail and are less complicated than you think. They are built in such a way that they can be stripped and serviced if they become a problem.
Get a Good Carburettor specialist to strip, clean, rebuild and reset the carb to see if that evens out the sputtering.

Our 1987 chevy spectrum sputters after shifting and going up hills. It pretty much sputters all the time.Less sputtering at increased speeds. We've replaced the fuel pump,co2 sensor,catalytic...

Sputtering usually comes from uneven spark delivered by ignition system. Check which cylinder does it, or maybe cap-rotor and wires? Spray some water on cap and wires while motor is running and see if that will affect the motor.

1987 chevy s10 pick up sputters in low speed. i changed fuel filter, plugs and wires. I put octaine booster, and did feul and jet cleaner. im out of ideas.

converter clogged? does it run good at other than slow speeds?, carb or spray nozzles ? if Spray nozzles check using multimeter , find the test online for the right values , if carb , may need rebuilt, try adding a little more advance from distributor, may help with pick up.

Turns over won't start. hasn't run in over a year and has had problems idling while cold. thinking carb needs cleaning... thoughts?

check and clean carb, try a lil carb fluid in carb to fire, also check the usual things for a tune up: cap & rotor, wires , also if its sat for a year add some clean fuel, condensation in fuel tanks and lines will wreak havoc, and will clog even brand new fuel filters

87 celica sitting for 10 yrs, will not start

You need to drain all old fuel out of the fuel tank, the fill with fresh fuel, clean or change filters (air and fuel)
and if possible blow fuel lines through with compressed air. Check the plugs are clean and gapped correctly, check the engine oil is ok.
Then use some easy start in the air filter to get it to fire up, after 10 yrs it will be difficult to start, but should be alright after a few runs.
I hope this helps

Wont start

If it sat for two years, you probably have varnish and gum buildup in the carb. You'll need to take the bowl off the carb and clean it with carb cleaner. You'll also need to spray the cleaner around the linkages and the jets inside. Be very careful taking apart the carb so you don't lose the float needle.

Cannot get 1987 chevy van 20 to keep running... stalls out

Best do a fuel pressure test. Should have chg. fuel filter from the get go. The only other filter is on the end of the fuel pump in tank. Bad gas and dirty gas will plug up fuel filter, hense burn pump up.

87 ford bronco 5.0

it prolly has gas in the tank from 2 years ago and that gas is no good. fill it up with high octane and add gas treatment. that will prolly fix it once the bad gas runs out and mixes with the new. you may also want to have the timing checked and turn the distributor to bump it up a little
