What are the symptoms of an incorrect torqued cylinder head on a bmw e36 318i m42 engine?

Over torqued and you run the risk of a stripped thread or broken head bolt. Under torqued and the compression gas will leak past the head gasket and burn it out.

I have a k reg 318i 8v and i need to know the torque settings for the head bolts. Thankyou

Hi, I guess this is an E36. Head bolts should be renewed if heads been off, as they are stretch bolts. Tightened in 3 stages, 1st 30-35 nm 2nd + 90 degrees, 3rd + 90 degrees. Hope that helps

How to change spark plug on a 2001 bmw 318i series 3

Open the hood. The engine should have two plastic covers. There are two caps on each cover use a small screwdriver to pop the caps off (there are prying slots next to each one). Be very careful as these are easy to loose. Next step there is a 10 mm bolt under each cap. Loosen the bolts and remove, again very easy to loose the bolts. Remove the oil fill cap. Remove the covers the passenger side comes off first then the drivers. After covers are removed reinstall oil fill cap. Now you will see the coil packs and harness. Mark each coil pack and harness connection. I start at 1 in the fromnt and count back to 6. The harness and coil should have the same number for each location. The harness removes from each coil very easily be sliding the keeper upward. Use a 10 mm socket and remove the #1 coil (2 bolts per coil) after removing the harness from coil #1. Pull coil directly up and remove it. Now using a ratchet 6" extension and sparkplug socket remove the old plug. Check gap if using aftermarket and install, BMW (OEM) Plugs are different and do not need to be gapped. I recommend BMW (OEM) plugs. Torque to recommend spec. (autozone can give you this). reinstall coil pack insure boot connects to new plug correctly. Tighten bolts and resecure harness. Continue with the rest of the coils and plugs one by one until completed. The reinstall via the removal instructions reversed.

Fuel filter and oil filter location on Bmw 320 td copact

If you removed the camshaft cover, you should probably replace the gasket or at a minimum insure that all bolts are torqued to OEM specification.

Look here for instructions and pictures for the oil change.

The fuel filter is located on the bottom of the car, not sure which side, under a shield. Look here for pics and instructions.
