Hi
I have over the past week had my 320i 1992 BMW E36 beep at me for no apparent reason. It happens when Ive just started driving, 3 loud beeps from the right hand side of the dashboard sound like its coming from where the light switch is. What can this be ?? There is nothing on the OBC and no warning lights or anything.
Hi,
Based on some readings, the beeping sound indicates cold outside temperature. If that is not the case, then the sensor located behind the front bumper has its connector detached or may be faulty. Of course the owner's manual could provide more details.
Hope this be of some help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.
Good luck and kind regards.
Thank you for using FixYa.
Usually beeping noise is associated with warning signs (to make the driver notice)....so perhaps the electrical connection got shorted somehow cuz of dirt or water.....i think you should have the electrical wiring checked at the service shop...

Thanks guys !! I will check out both suggestions, I know the sensor behind the front bumper is loose, and its the first time Ive spent a winter with my car, only got her in November last year. I will also check the wiring......Thanks

I have noticed that on my 2008 535xi and I observed that when the clock changes to 4:59 to 5:00 it does 3 dinging noises. right now I can say that is all I hve noticed. However mine went crzy on me tihis am and is at the shop whcih I am sure will cost me a house . It started doing everything on the ashboard it oculd possible do. I am not sure why it is doing hat it did other then it might jsut need to be reset on the computer. It was actong like it was possessed. The speddometer stopped working and all. I thought that I could get an answer to my question however, it took me here.
