I have a 2004 audi A4 and can't figure out how to get to the Air filter I located it in the front left corner of the engine but can't figure out how to get it open to replace the filter any help?

The engine no.# for 2004 Audi A4 2.0 is located on the upper left side of the cylinder block. See picture below:

For Audi A4 the fuse box is located on the left side of dashboard behind a plastic cover (for left hand steering wheel vehicle). On inner face of the plastic cover you will find the fuse diagram.
First fuse on first row from left upper corner is Fuse Nr.20 = F20 (15A) - RH headlamp low beam, headlamp adjustment.
First fuse on second row from left upper corner is Fuse Nr.21 = F21 (15A) - LH headlamp low beam, headlamp adjustment.

Filter element (dust and polen filter) with odor and harmful substances filltration. Placed on the right side of the car, (engine bonnet raised), under cover plate for water box (also for battery box), and under water deflector at the bottom of the windshield - right side for Left Hand Steering wheel.
!!! For Right Hand Steering wheel cars the cabin air filter is placed on the left side !!!

I had the smae problem with my 03 A4 Cabriolet. It is the secondary air pump located near the pass front wheel. I unplugged it and left it off for a few months. When I brought it to the dealer to replace it they plugged it back in and it works again...go figure

Hi i know exactly what is wrong I had the same problem with my A6 change the air mass flow meter or sensor min was wher the air filter is sat writ on the top n£45 from eby good lich.

your oil filter is under the front end you have to move engine splash shield.under the front bumper.

do you have any special modifications done to the car. Air Filter anything.

you must undo all hoses and unscrew the two screws. if you mess up the air sensor will be broken and some of the hoses have to be replaced. it will cost in excess of $400 in parts alone where as Audi dealer will charge $130 to change the filter for you. I had to pay $750 to fix the damage I caused.
