I would check the fuel pump fuse and fuel pump relay. Also check that the inertia switch doesn't need reset. If none of those are the problem, then the fuel pump is probably bad.

I have a brevis car, it starts but the engin doesn't turn

I guess you mean the starter cranks, but the engine never runs. That could be fuel or ignition. If fuel, spraying starter fluid into the air intake, then cranking, will get the engine to run temporarily. If ignition is bad, it won't run.

A fuel problem could be fuel filter, water in gas, fuel pump, or either carburetor or fuel injector is bad.

Electric could be wiring, ignition switch, distributor or sparkplugs, sparkplug wires problems.

We have a 98 Malibu that turns over but won't start.I was told it might be the fuel pump.If I use a diagnostic meter, will a code show for a bad fuel pump?

A bad fuel pump will not necessarily show a code. If you have a throttle body try spraying a little bit of starter fluid into it. Then try to start the car. If you have it will be under under the air cleaner cover and kind of looks like a conventional carbureator. If it starts with starter fluid and then dies you have a bad fuel pump, or clogged fuel filter. The fuel pump will be in the fuel tank. Im not sure where your fuel filter would be.

My 96 crown vic police interceptor, cranks won't start without spraying starter fluid.. the car won't start without spraying starter fluid into air intake hose to carb...

starting fluid is a thing of the past. dont use it. this car doesnt have a carb, its a throttle body/ electronic fuel injection system. you most likely have a fuel pump or fuel pressure regulator issue. test the fuel pressure, should be anywheres from 35-50 psi

Car has gas but won't start. Sprayed starter

the most likely reason is a failed fuel pump, plugged fuel filter or defective fuel regulator-you need to have the fuel line pressure tested-you can get the use (free) of a guage set from most commercial auto parts stores.

Gas not getting to the carburator. Starter turns

Check all of the fuel lines very carefully for breaks or cracks in the fuel lines, especially between the fuel tank and the fuel pump.

If the fuel lines are all in good condition then you can safely assume that the problem is in the fuel pump and you will need to replace it. (If the fuel pump is in really bad shape the engine oil on the end of the engine oil dip-stick will smell like fuel)

Won't start. turning, but won't fire.

If you think its fuel, spray some starter fluid inthe throttle body. If it fires up, you have a fuel problem, otherwise, check your spark plug wires, distributor cap and rotor. Also, check your fuses.

I have a 1995 Dodge caravan, it turns over but

fuel filter, fuel pump sonds like it is not getting fuel. Because when you spray starter fluid in it, it started and ran on what little bit of starter fluid you sprayed it with.
