My car sputtering 1998 honda accord lx 2.3

Start with a routine tune-up. New air filter, new spark plugs, distributor cap and rotor button. Make sure the sparkplugs are gapped correctly before installing. Plug wires are less likely to go bad, so I would hold off on that.

Spark Plug Gap

For the six cyclinder is .044 and for the four cyclinder its the same . Some spark plugs maybe already pregap. Also before you gap the plugs, check under the hood and look at the vacuum diagram sticker or any other sticker under the hood. They somtimes display what gap is neccessay for the car. If you do find the info. and is different for what i gave you. Use the sticker info. Good Luck.

Spark plug replacement

after purchasing replacement spark plugs and wires and making sure to have them correctly gapped use a 5/8 spark plug socket remove one at a time and replace in that order to make sure you dont mess up firing order gently remove boot on the first plug then unscrew plug place new plug in secure wire by snapping boot onto plug if theres oil in your cylinder youll need to replace tube seals common problem with hondas seal kit comes with valve cover gasket its fairly simple.
replace all of them the same way one at a time.
