Manually shift thru all gears up & down the scale. Try adding Motorcraft Additive Friction Modifier, available from Ford parts dept. This REALLY STINKS!!! Don't get any on you. Pour into trans fluid. Drive a few miles shifting manually thruthe gears, then do a normal start stop drive several times. This will luburcate trans, normally used for differential but has worked in automatic transmissions of all makes for years. Otherwise mechanical problem for transmission repair facility.

low on fluid likely , meaning a leak

Car going into neutral? I drive an 01 Jetta 4-speed automatic. When I'm in drive and i come to a complete stop and wait for the Rpms to go to 800 you here a light thump which is the car going into neutral....

Sounds like dirty or clogged transmission fluid-filter. Can be a more serious tranny problem...first try adding a bottle of Luca Oil Transmission stabilizer additive to the tranny...follow instructions...no draining needed. Hope this helps.

Driving at 40 mph and rpms were at 6000

Well with no other info, your transmission might not be shifting. Please check fluid level and reply. Also is the check, engine light on? You may be on limp mode if it is on. Worst case you need a new transmission best case low fluid level.

Dodge dakota doesnt move when gas is given

Transmission or torque convertor. The Dakotas have had a lot of problems. Our 2005 trans is in the process a complete rebuild right now due to a failure of a trans oil cooler line. The leak starved the planetary gears of fluid, causing them to seize up.

1994 Buick Regal Custom 3.8L the automatic transmission will go in reverse it move backward and in drive move forward then on highway atleast 5 miles automatic transmission quit. What cause this stop

it sounds like you have to much trany fluid in the trany.check the fluid level .if fluid is to much it bubbles at high speeds and if to low it can slip

When I push the gas pedal the car doesn't go but just revs and the RPMs go up then after a while the car jerks and starts to go. It's an automatic. What's wrong with it?

hi.
it sounds like the transmission fluid could be low.
there should be a dipstick or a level plug for the transmission fluid on the front of the gearbox.
if the level is low, top it up with the automatic transmission fluid.

if the level is ok then it may just need changing, or there could be an internal fault in the gearbox.
a mechanic would have to actually see the car to advise you further

My 1996 dodge dakota truck has No power at high RPMs.

You did not mention whether it is automatic or standard transmission. If it is an automatic drain and replace the filter and fluid of the transmission. If that doesn't work then you need to tight the bans. For a standard your clutch could be worn out. Good Luck

Speed only gets up to 30mph!

Definitely sounds like a transmission issue. If the car is revving and you're only able to attain 30mph, the transmission is slipping and won't advance to 3rd gear. Check the automatic transmission fluid. If it's low, add fluid, if it's full but brown and/or gives off a burning smell, get the car checked out at a transmission shop or other garage that services transmissions. Hope this answers your question. Best of Luck!
