CVT Transmission I had my ignition on ACC for a long period which drained my battery. After a jump my CVT transmission would not shift out of 2nd gear or in overdrive?

    Accelator pedal is behind even you step to much its takes 3 to 4 second before it go the rpm is dropping down and transmission won't shift.

I don't understand you problem, I have a 2007 maxima with CVT transmission, THERE ARE NO GEARS ! WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT? CVT = constant velocity transmission. It's like driving a golf cart.

I had the same problem this week. Mine wouldn't shift higher than 4th gear. Dealer replaced the valve body under warranty. Would have been a $1,400 repair. A new CVT runs about $6,000 installed. Nissan says when the jumper cables are attached and the ignition in the on position something happens and blows up the valve body. Make sure the jumper cables are attached with the ignition off.

Try disconnecting the battery for 15min.... and reconnect the battery. if problem solve ur lucky, if not ur in for big bucks

IT IS PURELY ELECTRONICALLY SHIFTED, 1,2,3,4 UP
THE STALL TEST.
IN DRIVE OR IN LOW.
DO THE STALL TESTS, PER THE MANUAL
MY GUESS IS DOING THIS TEST ON CVT IS (NOT WISE)
CLASSIC SIMPLE TEST . A 3 TO 5 SECOND TEST MAX.
HAND BRAKE SET, HARD,
CAR POINTED IN A SAFE DIRECTION, NO KIDS THERE ?
NO CLIFFS (GRIN)
FOOT ON FLOOR BRAKE HARD.PRESSED AND HELD.

ENGINE RUNNING STOMP ON THE THROTTLE PEDAL

HARD SEE RPM RISE, CAR WANTS TO MOVE, AND MAY HIT 3000 TO 3500 RPM THIS THE TC CLUTCH SLIPPING NOW.
AND IS PASSING THIS NOW.
END CLASSIC A/T TEST.

AND THE TC WILL GET HOT SO END THE TEST AT 3 SECONDS
THIS PROVES (MOSTLy ) ENGINE IS NOT WEAK.
IT DOES NO PROVE ROAD SPEED SENSORS WORK,
SCANNING THE PCM LEARNS THAT BUT FAILED TO DO SO)

the tcm shifts the transmission but CVT does not shift,. it just changes ratios on the 2 pulleys inside.(not via gears at all)


only planetary gear set a/t boxes shift! using clutch packs(modern)
yes CVT will have special gear set just for reverse.

My 2007 dodge caliber 2.4 rt

Replace the radiator as it is leaking internally. Remove and service the transmission as water in the transmission will destroy the bearings and clutches.
The best option if it has been leaking for a while is look for another vehicle ... possibly a cheaper option.

Auto transmission will not shift into 2nd gear

A problem a lot of drivers experience is their cars won't shift from first to second gear. That could lead to number of different problems, overheating being one of them. If you think there is a problem with your transmission then the first thing you should always do is check your transmission fluid levels.

This solves a lot of transmission problems but if you still can't shift then you may need to look at your throttle cables. A faulty throttle cable that has too much slack can prevent proper shifting, or shifting at all for that matter.

TRANSMISSION OIL CHANGE

I have a 2004 R2 - CVT fluid is to be changed every 40,000km. I've changed mine once already. Taking the drain plug out of the transmission pan drains 2-3L. New fluid is added to the CVT 'dipstick' tube, which is just behind the radiator with a black plastic head on the dipstick. A local CVT specialist sold me type NS-2 fluid, which has been working well for 12,000km. I also changed the filter on top of the transmission with a WIX 51365 which my autoparts shop found using the OEM filter part number. Hope this helps!

Transmission jumps into 2nd gear and wont shift out. even in first it slips and jumps into 2nd. the display that tells u what gear its in flickers and all the gears are circled so u cant even tell what...

The transmission has gone into 'limp mode' by the sounds of it. When the transmission shifting control system stops working, it defaults to 2nd gear in order that you can still drive the vehicle, so that you can get it to a shop without a tow. The shifting of this transmission is controlled electronically.
Check the wiring and connectors for your transmission for any kind of damage, corrosion, etc. If you are blowing a turn signal fuse with Neutral, something for sure in there is short-circuited.

Having problems with the transmission shifting irregular between 2nd and 3rd

The ford taurus is know for having a weak transmission, however if the transmission is serviced regularly you can avoid problems.
