Reset anti theft system 2007 Chevy Malibu

Here are two methods to reset the anti-theft system on 2007 Chevy Malibu:
1st method
1. Put the ignition in on position, let it breathe for 10 minutes, and remove it when the anti-theft system light stops blinking.
2. Crank up the engine; it should now start
2nd method
• While outside the car, press and hold the lock and unlock button together
• Let go when the car honks and the lights flash
• Put the key in the ignition and rotate to the ON position, and leave there for 30 seconds
• Switch on the car, and the anti-theft system would have reset

I have a 98 Chevy Malibu Ls and the ignition won't

Inspect the old ignition cycle which is out.Is there any problem noticed of Ignition cylinder getting worn out.
Because when issue of ignition not turning off,its faulty ignition lock cylinder or faulty ignition switch.I suggest re-inspect the new ignition cylinder.

replace the ignition switch and lock cylinder they are worn and causing a false theft code to set

Anti theft has locked out the fuel can i run 12 volts into fuel pump to bypass anti theft

No, that won't work. The antitheft system shuts down the injectors not the fuel pump. You can bypass it with some resistors from radio shack but the easiest way to fix it is to replace the ignition lock cylinder. This is usually what is wrong.

all gm vehicles from 97-2005 have a theft system called the passlock system. (how to deactivate system on chevy malibu) turn key on engine off, let it stay on for at least 10 minutes, then turn ignition off, take out key from ignition switch. after 1 minute start the car. you can also go to tubesound.com to disable system for good. --tubesound.com/passlocksystem. ( just type in the problem when page comes up ). have a good day!! vehicle will not start with system blinking. it thinks its being stolen.

How do I put an ignition switch in on a 98 malibu

first remove trim around instrument cluster.remove the 2 screws holding switch in, push the switch in about 1 inch, lift up then straight out.ignition switch is on back side of lock cylinder.

It should take about 8minutes to reset the ignition system but if it is doing it all the time ,the pass lock in the ignition switch is toast! You have no choice but to replace the ignitin switch!

Hello, It sounds as if the theft deterrent system is tripped. Look at the key is it worn bad? If so get a new one made at the dealer. To do a key test isert the key, turn to start and release if theft light comes on leave key alone in the on position ten minutes after you try to start never turn off after you yurn to start it puts it in a certain mode, and do not bother it for about 12 minutes. When you come back to car turn switch off then turn to start and it should start thank you.Please rate this answer, thank you.

You need to reset the theft system. To do this, try to start it. It should start and die. Then after it dies and the theft light is flashing, leave the key on for 10 minutes. After 10 min, the theft light should go out. After the theft light goes out, turn off the key. Count to 5, then restart it. Then it should work.

I have 98 chevy malibu, I had a new starter put in and now when I start driving the car the theft system light goes on and then sometimes the theft system light wont go on till i am driving then about 3 mins later it will light up again while driving, also I have tried the locking the door and leaving the key in the ignition for 10 mins and the light still will come on soon after I am driving the car, after i stop and park the car it will start right up? what can I do?

I didnt quite understand what I need to do with the problem I am still having with my car..Does this mean I should get a new key or a keyless remote or the problem still is their, so could you please explain what I need to do with my issue with statement I wrote prior.
