2002 Hyundai Elantra Drivers dorr Lock Jammed not unlocking properly. Lock lever on inside and key on outside are stuck and door move bery much and will not unlock car. Originally cable in door to release the lock broke and was repaired but after repair ran into this lock release problem where lock seems jammed. Key will not turn all the way to unlock car and the little lock release latch/lever on inside will not move . Have checked lock cable but can't see any problem witgh cable. Wondering if it is the mechcanism the release rods & cables go to in door by lock latch??? and how I can release the mechanism???

Their is a rod that runs from inside handle to a lever that pulls up on the latch mechanism. The outside handle has a rod that runs to the same place, what I have seen is the rod running from lever to mechanism come loose at the mechanism and neither handle will work.

I had that problem with a explorer. The door latch assembly needed to be lubed. It was rubbing where the linkage was hooked to the lock lever.

I had exact problem Santa Fe 2007 2008 lock was stuck in locked position and door would not open from inside or out. All other doors would unlock with auto key remote. Carefully work the inside lock towards the open position as you lock and unlock the door with the remote. As you press unlock try to assist the lock to open. I did this a few times and the lock became free to the open position and all worked perfectly after this.

-If the problem is that keyless remote does unlock or lock door, but the lock lever still move when pulling up and down by hand. Door still open and close with both inner and outer, then might the driver door lock actuator is bad. The actuator lock and unlock the door for you when using the keyless remote or door lock/unlock switch.

-if you try using the key to unlock door and the key doesn't turn the door cylinder, then you have a bad door lock cylinder.

-if the lock lever doesn't move up or down and you can't open door using any handle, then you got a bad lock latch assembly.

I'm not sure what the issue is but hope this helps you.

There is a "bar" that attaches to the lock like a lever pulling and pushing the door. Over many years and hundreds of unlockings it breaks from the plastic...I am in the same boat. It won't cost that much....take it to the dealer..the part is around $13.00 to replace
