The diagram below is from the Factory Service Manual for a 2001.0 year Pathfinder. The rear oxygen sensors are parts 1 and 3. They are easy to spot from under the car, in the region of the front wheels.
All O2 Sensors, are on exhaust pipe, close to converter or in converter
Bank 1--right side of engine
Bank 2--Left side of engine
Do not throw a sensor at it, without knowing that is your problem.Always test,then replace
Codes do not tell you what to replace (education is the key)
Sensor #1 first one,inlet,e,g,front
Sensor #2 outlet,rear one
Again--they have to be tested,that does not mean produce a scan tool code.
The rear or #2 sensors, don't fail often or swing much,if the converter is doing it's job.

Here's a link to your firing order.Bank 1 is cylinder 1,which is on passenger side and sensor 2 is second sensor which is after catalytic converter.Here's the part.

mechanic said it was bank one sensor 2, is that the in front of the converter or the one behind it toward the rear of the truck?
