I have a 1999 Chrysler Town and Country minivan with a factory alarm. The alarm is malfunctioning. When we went to start the van it would run for a few seconds and stop. Then after a couple of tries the engine would not crank but dash lights are on. (Battery has a full charge.) We tried to reset the alarm by unlocking with the remote. Opening the passenger door with a key used to work to reset alarm but now nothing works. Do you have a suggestion? Can I disable the alarm?

SOURCE: My car alarm will not reset and the issue with problems below

If you (hopefully) have the key fob (keyless entry remote), try closing the doors, then lock and unlock using the keyless entry. This should reset the security so the vehicle will start.

Verify around the steering column, if you see a square black box with a big plug into it, disconect the plug and try to start the car.

SOURCE: Passenger power window will not open.

We have had this happen in every town and country and caravan that we have owned. They will tell you that the window motor needs replaced. It will work for a while and then break again. Did I mention that the price tag to fix it is pretty hefty? A friend of mine told me that he fixed his with a salvaged window motor for a fraction of the price. The motor is obviously defective though if it breaks so easily.

My 2005 town and country alarm is activated and will not allow us to start the van. how do we dis alarm the alarm system

Before removing your factory alarm call a locksmith and ask him if can reprogram your car key. Is most likely your car computer no longer recognize your key I know this sounds weird but most cars this days have a chip on the key it self whit the car vin number and some other information. Is an anti theft feature. If the computer do not recognize your key it wont let you start the car even if you are able to turn the key.

Randomly automatically locking doors

Seems like a problem with the Alarm. First disconnect the Alarm and if problem still persists then will have to trace step by step for a loose connection or relay malfunction.

I cannot start my 1997 chrysler town & country minivan. When I try to start it I get a "alarm set" reading. It starts for a minute then cuts off. HELP. I AM STRANDED.

I have a 97 Chrysler Town & Country Van with 104000 miles on it. The past two months the van will not start and run after driving for a while. Let it set for about an hour and it will start and run fine. When it does not want to run it will start and run for about 5 seconds then quit. During this time the dash instruments will not display but the radio, windows, and lights work just fine. The battery was replaced with in the past month so I don' t think that is the problem. Any seggestions?
