It idles at about 500 rpm with engine warm. When I accelerate the engine at 2000 rpm it starts to skip almost like a rev limitor would do.

Try twinturbo.net. plenty of 300zx enthusiasts and info on that site. Has a tech forum and links to faq. Look around and search. I go there for help on my 93 Z. And no, it doesn't have to be a turbo model.
I have a Nissan 300zx twin turbo 1990.... The engine and car are in very good condition ... well serviced... The idle speed will not go below 2000 rpm can you help as there is no manual adjustment...????
My sincere apologies for the extremely delayed response. I am personally going back to answer your unanswered questions. I have only been a free contributor to this site for the past 4-months.
I do not know if you still need this information, but I am going ahead and answering it anyway.
1. Non Turbo =VG30E. Turbo = VG30ET. In any case the Engine Cylinder numbers, Firing Order, and Distributor Connections are the same.
For the 3.0L: Firing Order: 1-2-3-4-5-6 Cylinders: (back of engine) 5--------6 3--------4 1--------2 (front of engine) Distributor:
....(back) .6......5......4 .|.......|........| V......V......V |..................| |..................| ^.......^.......^ .|........|........| 1.......2.......3
....(front)
2. I am not sure what what "cam adjustments" you were looking for. I am sure you probably have taken care of that or found what you were looking for. However, in most cases the person is really asking about the Timing issue.
Click on the following Link for the Timing Belt/Chain Diagrams.
Check your mass airflow meter. If it's bad, at least on my 1990 300ZX, the car won't rev over 2400RPM (it's a safeguard built into the ECU of the car). Grab one from a scrapyard and swap it in and see if that fixes the issue.
