Hey, just a thought, but a friend of mine had similar prob. She drives a ram pickup, and the front turn signals have two turn signal bulbs and they are front bulbs not side. Go out and look at the side that works and then look again at the other side.
Under the dashboard there is a round metal device called a flasher its where the tick noise comes from when you activate your turn signal I would try replacing that next Good luck
Since all vehicles made in the last 20 + years are having so many plastic and fibreglas components, you must have a really good ground wires set up to get the current back to the Safari's battery. Try some jumper cables for a ground, and see if that helps. Also, try to take a hot wire off of another turn signal location. Oh, yes, I just had another thought, maybe the best yet. In the old days, different cars had different numbers of bulbs that flashed when the turn signals were turned on. Example: small Chevrolet to big Cadillac. Often the Chevy had 2 bulbs, while some Caddy's had as many as 8. Because of this, the turn signal flashers would state how many bulbs that flasher would flash. And, there was a super heavy duty available for your situation, when you were adding more bulbs. I don't know if your Safari has an electronic turn signal flasher or the old kind, but maybe the flasher is overloaded. Be blessed.
you dont need a fuse, you need to go get a flasher relay, available at any auto parts store, if you ask, they will probably tell you where it is located!!
make sure the bulb is grounded good . usually if the front one is lit and the signal is fast the rear bulb might be bad . turn on the side that is not working properly and take off the lense and wiggle the bulb. also you might have to gt under it and check for the ground for the bulb .. holler if ou need more Jerry
