    I have to gain access to the window motor and regulator to replace them.

    Made a mess of removing the door panel to get the window up after it slammed to the open position when attempting to electronically close the left rear window in my 2001 cad deville. Looking for help on how to replace the regulator-- motor works fine, but can I use it with a new regulator and how hard is it to replace it and the door panel when I'm done installing the regulator?

    2000 DHS regulator bad in rear passenger side door. How do you remove the door panel and can the regulator be repaired, I think the cable to lift the window broke.

    I had the same problem with my right rear door. I bought the car new and I bet the window hasn't been up and down 100 times either. I also don't trust the dealer that I bought the car at. It seems like they can't work on the car without finding something that I absolutlely need to buy or fix. I am seriously thinking my next Caddilac will have a Toyota logo on it.

On the inside trim, you can remove screws that are by the door handle, arm rest, under door and side of door and then gently pull back on the panel as there will also be retaining clips attached and you don't want to break them. You'll need to lift the door panel upwards in order to get it off the window ledge. Then you'll need to manipulate the panel and disconnect the door handle linkage from the door handle and disconnect the wiring for your controls

They are hiding under trim and in hidden spots after you get them out it has snap pegs that hold the panel in place the best thing to do if your still lost is youtube removing door panel on the vehicle!

REMOVE REAR DOOR PANEL ON 2001 CADILLAC
The first one is always tricky, putting it back on also.

Behind the door handle is a trim bezel that is just velco.
Remove and remove phillips screw behind it.
Door lock button has a trap door that lifts out then the button pulls off.
Behind that is a torx srew that holds the lock trim to the door, remove.
Next are the push type clips that hold the edges of the panel to the door.
These must be pryed away from the door all the way around the panel.

Now for the fun part.

After pulling the bottom of the panel away from the door stand up and firmly grab the door armrest/handle.
In a jerking motion, pull up and out on the door panel. there will be a large electrical connection to release behind the panel.

Install is the reverse of removal, but still tricky.

go to auto parts store or retail store to get a tool called panel popper. it has 2 prongs shaped like a wrench on a shaft (like a screw driver). check panel for screws to remove and after remove screws, use panel popper to pry the panel up. put the panel popper near the plastic tabs that hold the door in place.

Remove all the screws and pop the panel off, most of the retainers are spring or friction christmas tree pins, the screws will be hidden under trim in and around the door handle, and maybe under the light in the door.
