Most of these v w have a plug you can unscrew and then there are those you may want to take to a service department and have them check and fill the transmission fluid because there are sometimes a certain procedure to follow when checking the transmission fluid depending on the vehicle.
Take the measuring stick from sleeve, place a funnel into sleeve (two dollars at your favorite auto parts) and add tranny fluid to level. Do not overfill.
I'm not an expert on Volkswagens, but on all the cars I've ever owned, transmission fluid was added directly down the tube that houses the transmission fluid dip stick. Remove the dip stick and use a funnel with a narrow opening. I hope this helps you out.
There will be a dipstick under the bonnet Sounds like im taking the **** but you will have two one for the motor oil and one for transmission. it ll be buried or hidden under somehoses or wiring but it will be there honest iv'e gott a passat v6 auto it is there somewhere
the trans fluid can only be serviced through a standpipe in the pan with car in the air and trans at an exact temp,<needs to be on a monitor computer> it also uses special fluid not any of the normal fluids. this fluid is suposed to be "lifetime" fluid that doesn't need servicing unless there is a leak or a trans failure.
