MissFire? We got a new car in July of 2005. Army moved us to Germany. We have had no problems with the car. We love it. But just reciently we have been having issues when we are stopped at a light, sign or the gate for an ID check the car's idol slowly drops and starts to chug. We have gotten a diognostic test at our military car care center and they told us it's misfireing and we need new spark plugs and wires. We had just reciently gotten new plug wires due to marters (a.k.a. rats) chewing the origional ones. So we got new spark plugs and had them installed. The check engine light went off and was alright but is now chugging again at every stop. I needs help please! Anyone! This military family could really use any advice!

I think you might have a mouse living in your engine compartment
but i would look at a mouse dead inside your muffler since this is the warmest place the cuts off the cars way of breathing
when you come to a stop the dead mouse moves inside muffler and creates a blockage just enough to almost smother vehicle rats find muffler pipes warm area to live in
i would also change the oxygen sensor out too

since you mentioned rats i would gothrew whole vehicle in detail and look for chewed frayed wires windshield wiper motors things of this nature they may have chewed threw a relay and you wouldnt know once you have rats they can do lots of damage to a vehicle

also if vehicle sat for long time i would check the tank for debry and change the sending units filter out for better performance along with vehicles fuel filters

fuel injector relay can also be bad giving you the chug

bad coil

build of gunk in the throttle body houseing

air filter clog or not enough air

these are things i can think off the top of my head since im not there in person to see vehicle
i hope this had helped you in some remedy

Professional Scan Tool in Mode $06 ?

On a 2005 Ford I would say ALL of the ignition
coils are bad, they don't last more than 6 to 7 years

Not all coils show up as an OBD PO 300 Code or Mode $06
Misfire, some just spike the PCM at will & drive you crazy

All you can do is walk a new coil or replace them all

Missfire cylinder 8 545

Move the ignition coil to another cylinder and see if the problem moves. If it does it is the ignition coil replace it otherwise it is probably the fuel injector.

My 2004 Ford f150, when checked on a computer, says missfire in cylinder 1. We changed the coil, plug, and fuel injector, what can the problem be.

Switch the plug wire with one of the others and if your missfire moves to a new cylinder its a bad wire.

93 MPV 6cyl is surging constantly

Hi there;

It sounds like you have an engine cylinder missfire. The spark plug wires are the most common cause of the issue you are discribing.
I recommend you have the spark plug wires, distributor cap & rotor replaced. If you haven't replaced the spark plugs reciently It would be a good idea as poor plugs can cause the other parts I listed to fail.

Good luck, hope this helps

Missfire

You may need a new wiring harness. They have to be ordered from Germany. This is my guess. (I am having a similar issue with my '94; rough idle, #4 cylinder not firing intermittantly, replaced plugs and 8 ignition coils; new harness is my mechanics guess)

cheers and buena suerte
