1997 AUDI A4 The Control Panel for the Heater and Aircon is on and working, but does not have any effect on the actual aircon / fan / heater, etc. The lights come on to show that the fan for instance is working, and the show the rate at which it should operate, but nothing works. The aircon temperature can also be adjusted as per the control panel, but it does not work although it shows it should be at a certain temperature. The aircon pump does not come on at all. Please could you advise or suggest what could be the problem and do give me a diagnostic of what the problem could be. Thank you so very much. check if you can here the fan running. If not the cause can be that the bushes have reached there limit and need to be replaced. If you have the time and tools, you can remove the motor and get to the bushes. You will find that they have been worn down to a curn shape. If you remove each bush, and flip it 180 degrees, then the tip of the bush will make contact with the motor shaft. This will give you many months of fan life and save you a packet. You could also replace the buses with new ones - Audi do not sell them but can be matched by good auto shops.

You have a leak most likely, and these are typically hard to spot without test equipment. Take it back to your technician and ask him to recharge the system and perform a dye test to locate the leak. Could be as simple as a bad o-ring in a fitting, or as complicated as a seal in the compressor.

SOURCE: the heater and aircon on my 1998 a4 advant has

This is the answer I gave to another poster who had what looks like the same problem. You don't say if there is a tiny trickle of heat at windscreen when engine is warm, but if so and the problem is simply that there is no airflow, then it sounds like the same problem. Here's my offering: " it's a strong possibility that the blower motor has packed up, (check with a new fuse first), or that the carbon brushes have worn down so far that they no longer have contact with the slip rings of the heater blower fan. This could show itself as an intermittent stop-starting of airflow which would maybe come and go with increasingly longer periods of no airflow until it finally fails to work at all. If you haven't tried it already, set the control to demist and give the NS door (nearest the blower motor) a good slam shut just as the LED lights on the display start climbing up. This may jolt the blower motor into turning. NB this is not a permanent fix and may cause other damage if used regularly!!! A new blower motor (OEM apparently) will cost about £65 inc delivery from ebay (the 'real' price seems to be about £130, God only knows what the labour charge would be). The brushes are available separately for under a tenner inc. postage also from ebay. It seems that this is a very common problem with A4/ A3/ Passat blower motors which have reached the circa 10 yr old mark. Fitting the brushes is about a 1- 2 hr job if you are prepared to do it yourself, and involves removing the blower motor after first removing the glovebox by accessing the hexhead screws on the panel at end of fascia, with NS door opened. There are a few forums with good pics of this if you have a search. The carbon brushes are a commonly widespread standard size and fit a lot of VW Audi models. You need to weigh this up against the cost of a new blower motor, and how much of your own time you want to spend on the project, but none of this is very difficult; even soldering the brush contacts is a very simple job if you have ever used a soldering iron. If you don't own a soldering iron, and will have to buy one, or if you don't consider £65 too much to pay for a new motor, it would be a simpler job to replace the blower motor and avoid the brushes and soldering job altogether. I have heard that reputable auto repairers would ask for around £200-£250 to replace the heater blower motor, which is not dreadfully unreasonable if the parts cost is £130, but less reasonable if they are paying £65 for the part...." Best of Luck.

2014 Citroen DS3 heater fan.

You need an auto electrician or the dealership. The heater and fan are part of the climate control and are computer operated. An auto electrician will connect a professional grade scan tool computer and diagnose the system.

My 2005 Audi A4 engine have idling problem when aircon is on

Sounds like the compressor is failing or seized (for the air con). This would put extra pressure on the system. It could be another fault with the air con system like the solenoids not opening up to allow the flow of gas in the system.

Paassenger footwell on my audi a4 1.9tdi(1999) 110bhp has water running into it when air con/heater is running. Any idea's?

Most likly the drain hose for the aircon is dislocated or is blocked up. If upon inspection you find hose still connected then a low preasure air inject into hose may unblock. If you can get a venturi suction on the hose that will extract. some form of vacume pump will do the same. Best to extract any blockage if you can as it will only re-occour

Cooling fans don't work at all

that is because your fan relays have burned out and need to be replaced. do not I repeat do not drive your car until you fix this problem because your engine will overheat and you will crack your engine block and it will seize on you. Most like you have a 2 speed fan which is ahigh speed and a low speed.

Aircon works but blows hot air

I had the same problem (during Summer!!) - If you take the Fan/A.C/Temp Control panel off, you'll probably find the plastic bracket that the control cable mounts to, is broken. I just used 3 zip-ties to hold everything in place. 30 minutes work, & 50c parts!! No problems since.
