4g93 gdi engine starts wont rev above 3000 rpm-starts misfiring cuts off as i mash the x sounds like starving for air scan tool once said fuel rail sensor swapped - air flow sensor, fuel pump & fuel pump (tank) is there a fuel pressure boost pump on the engine? I have this exact same problem, what is the solution?

Hey have you tried disconnecting and re connecting the battery? my mitsi carisma startd doing that so i rang up dealer and aparently they do it when the computer thinks there is something wrong with the engine, so it enters slow mode (or turtle mode or something) so that minimal damage is done while you drive it slowly to yr mechanic. Could be complettly wrong tho. Good luck.

Air flow sensor and fuel rail pressure sensor can both cause this problem, if the high pressure fuel pump was bad engine won't even start.

i can confirm with u that the end of the intake camshaft is broken...tat's why the fuel pressure is low.intake camshaft attach to the fuel pump to boost the pressure.for sure u won't believe what i say...i've seen more than 20 gdi model having tis problem..

Hi, I have a 2005 Mitsubishi Lancer Wagon, 4G93. It wont rev over 4000. It has no error codes, I changed the Mass Air Flow intake sensor and no change.

If your in park or neutral, the PCM stops the engine from revving up to high. If your driving, then the fuel filter is clogged up.

Why wont it rev above 2000 rpm?

diesel? won't rev above 2k is because it's being fuel starved , ck filter ,.lift pump , injector rail pressure reg.

96 regal 3.8 liter missing at above 3000 rpm, stumbles and wont go over 4000 rpm. changed plugs and wires, coils,and checked all injecters,seem to be all functioning.changed fuel filter too.no check engine...

I have a 2002 Lesabre with the 3.8 engine. Mine started running really bad. The code was random engine misfiring. I changed plugs, wires and a few other parts with no success. It ended up being the ignition control module. It sits under the coils on my car. Cost around $150. Mine went bad at around 110,000 miles.

Hi it sounds like your high pressure pump needs replacing. the pump can be repaired but you will have to find someone who knows about it, i fix a lot of them before. there is a spring that pushes out the piston in the pump so it can compress the fuel that spring losses its ability to extract the piston back out. i have pictures of one if anyone wants to see
