Hi,
Open the boot / trunk. There is a part where the roof is stored when it is down, that can be raised to create more trunk / boot space when the roof is up. Grab the handle and make sure it is fully pulled to the back to make sure that the roof can be stowed correctly. If this is not fully back, or there is something pressing against it in the boot, the roof will not operate. The trunk needs to be closed before operating the roof too.
Not real sure on bmw but did you try lowering rear windows first
I did lower the windows and held the brake among other things. i have been reading on the forums and found that it may be a fuse near the battery. Or someone may have pulled the motor release to the roof under the back bench seat. I will try those two things. I hope that one of these is the solution.
