For 2001 Mercury Truck Villager Wagon 3.3L SFI SOHC 6cyl the Knock Sensor (KS) is located on the engine block under the intake manifold.

The sensor monitors preignition, or spark knock, and sends the signal to the PCM. The PCM responds by adjusting ignition and fuel timing until knocking is stopped. Vibrations in the engine are sensed by the piezoelectric element and weight in the KS as vibrational pressure.

Fig. Knock sensor location with a view of the internal components

  1. Remove the lower intake manifold.
  2. Remove the coolant crossover tube.
  3. Disconnect the KS electrical connector.
  4. Remove the KS bolt and remove the sensor.
  5. The installation is the reverse of removal.
Hope helps.

SOURCE: where is a knock sensor for 2000 mercury villager

It is under the lower intake manifold in the valley of the engine.You must remove the cross over coolant tube to gain access to the knock sensor. It bolts into the cylinder head. Good luck

SOURCE: Code reader knock sensor where is it located

According to the Haynes manual it is under the intake manifold, Upper and lower intake manifolds must be removed for access. If you go to Auto Zone, they have the sensor and can give you the step by step instructions to replacing the knock sensor with common tools. Good luck and hope this help.

SOURCE: where is a knock sensor for 1998 Mercury Villager located?

  • The sensor is mounted in a fixed position in the engine block. The tip of the sensor protrudes into the crankcase at a distance of 0.05 plus or minus 0.02 inch from the crankshaft.
  • A crankshaft adjusting tool may be used to check these rings.
    • Place the tool on the pulley extension surface and rotate the tool around the pulley.
    • If any blade touches the tool, replace the pulley.
  • Inspect the trigger wheel behind the crankshaft pulley and the sensor for damage.
  • If the engine misfires all the time or on acceleration only, test the following components:
    • Engine compression.
    • Spark plugs.
    • Spark plug wires.
    • Ignition coils test for firing voltage with a test spark plug.
    • Crankshaft sensor.
    • Fuel injectors on multiport and sequential fuel injection systems.

SOURCE: dont know where knock sensor goes on 1999mercuary

sensor is located on the head. I believe you will need to remove the intake to get at it.

2001 mercury villager runs ok when cold the warmer it gets the worse it misses the codes it give me are po300 po180 po325 not sure what problem is just started this few days ago

code p0300 refers to random misfires---misfires detected==causes ---spark plug/s --HT lead/s ---injector/s---ignition coil/s---low compression---ECM
code p 0180 refers to fuel temperature sensor A --circuit malfunction === causes ---wiring---fuel temp sensor---ECM
code p 0325 refers to knock sensor (KS) 1 bank 1-- circuit malfunction===causes ---wiring---poor connection---KS
as the codes vary to much and are not related , the first thing I would do is to replace the ECM with a known good unit to eliminate a component failure when it gets hot
after that check wiring for injectors and fuel pump
a lot of misfires can be traced to low fuel pressure and in this case, it could be from a fuel pump failing to produce sufficient pressure when it warms up( shorting out internally)
why I suggest the ECM in the first place is the code for the knock sensor which has little to no relevance to the others and could indicate a ECM problem

Checked at autozone when service engine soon light came on code for knock sensor and fuel running rich came up...are these expensive to repair?

The knock sensor is located under the intake manifold and will be expensive to fix at 5-6 hours labor. The rich code could be a bunch of different things and will need to be hooked up to an actual computer to see what is out of spec.
