The ford cvt trans does not have a dipstick if there is no leak it should still be ok. It does take a special fluid that is very expencive. ford's better idea HUH!

The dipstick is more like a plug located right under the water pump its on the front of the engine they made it difficult on purpose the cvt uses a different fluid comparred to a regular automatic transmision cvt fluid is a bluish color regular trans red color. Heres a tip once You locate the plug its Yellow take a piece of metal about 2 ft long and attach it to the plug to bring it up higher in the engine bay. Be careful on how much fluid you add a little to much or to little and there can be problems.

For the 6 speed auto trans the dipstick is located behind the radiator support, to the left of the air cleaner box. The dipstick is a round yellow plastic towards the bottom of the transmission. The exhaust manifold is slightly above it, so be careful not to burn yourself.

I have an 2007 Ford 500 AWD limited edition. My wrench light keeps coming on and when it does, it's undrivable. I get up to barely 10 mph and the rpms go up to 3-4 thousand at that.

Question moved to model category.

When the Engine Malfunction Light comes on, it also generates a code to tell you exactly what is causing the problem. The Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) is a P???? number and can be searched online to find the cause and the fix. Currently you are in 'Limp Mode'. That is a serious fault that can severely damage your engine. Any garage will sell you the code for free. It takes less than 2 minutes. Write the code down and post it here below my Comment.

What can I use in an emergency situation for regular transission fluid to add fluid to my transmission that takes special fluid on a 05 ford 500 awd limited

Ok so first your six speed in your ford is made by Aisin/Warner model tf-80sc Is what I came up with. Did you know Toyota use Aisin transmissions? This mean that the cross I found is correct it said that you can use aisin fluid pn atf-qt4 or fluid rated Toyota T-IV as an alt fluid, being that aisin is the manufacture of your trans you probably will have no issue. Also according to another post when he pulled the drain plug it drained out about three quarts from the plug! hope this was helpful.

I just purchased a 2005 AWD Ford Freestyle limited edition that is an automatic. There has been a slow transmission fluid leak but last week it became a heavy leak. At the time we thought it was an oil...

It sounds like you had a leak & failed to address
that & yes-- ruined the trans

Any repair shop can check or service any trans

Nothing special at a dealer or reason to go there

Changing fluid in trany

Hello , Nothing to worry about this plug is from the factory assembly line, it is used to prevent debris from entering the trans prior to the dipstick tube being intstalled. Once the dipstick tube goes in the plug is pushed into the pan, and sits there until the first trans service is performed. Just throw it away. If i have been helpful please give me a rating, this helps me out thanks have a great day. RJ
