I have a 98 jeep cherokee with a bad positve post terminal battery cable. this will be the first one that i will have ever changed out and would love some advice on how it is done!
thanks so much
Cut off old terminal. Cut back insulation and check for discoloring or corrosion.
If corroded, clean with baking soda /water solution.
If discolored (burnt), cut back until you find shiny copper. If it's too far back, replace entire cable.
If not discoloring or corrosion, the cheapest solution is to go to any auto parts store or even auto section in wal mart and buy the type that uses two bolts to clamp down over new cable.
The BEST way would be to crimp a heavy duty terminal on there, and then shrink-wrap it to protect against the elements. However the tools could be expensive unless you can borrow.

I also need to change out my possitive terminal on a 90 Jeep. The negative is a standard terminal and was easy to replace. The positive has a lead running to it. Is there somewhere I can get that terminal?
