I accidentally tossed out my 1993 Audi 100CS radio code
when getting rid of junk in the glovebox.
After changing my headgasket on the motor we reconnected the battery supply & found the radio on SAFE mode.

In order to get the serial number from the radio you must remove it from the dash board. It will be a 14 digit number that starts with AUZ and it will be on the radio chssis tag. Take that number and the title or registration in your name to a dealership and make sure you have photo id and they should be able to get you the unlock code.
if radio in safe mode look in owners manual in dash if it dont have instruction how to to unlock radio out of safe mode, the audi or volkswagon dealership has to unlock radio.
Well if you are trying to unlock a factory Audi radio then its one thing but if it is an aftermarket radio such as an alpnine, pioneer, sony etc then it is a different approach. If it is a factory radio then u have to pull the radio out of the deck, write down the serial number off the back of the radio ( S/N or SER ) and then go to your windshield and take down your Vehicle Identification Number and head over to your Audi Service And Parts Dept, give them the info that you took down and they can pull up your unlock code for the radio, you can also call the Service/Parts Dept if the dealer is too far, but you definately need that info before u call them. If it is for an aftermarket it may have to be resetted or you may have to call the manufacturer tech support line to unlock it.
