1992 GMC Safari Convertion Van, Brake light on the dash stays on after starting. Has power brakes with ABS, I stoped suddenly to avoid an animal in the road, I applied the brakes very hard, now the light is staying on ! I have replaced both front and back brakes and rear brake wheel cylinders recently and cleaned the sencers for the ABS at the rear axles. No change. How and what do I check next ? Thanks, Mark

Abs light brake light on not shifting

look under the truck at the ****** and check the wiring to the sensors if good may be a bad sensor, also check the wiring and connections to the abs wheel sensors [ located from frame to the hub behind the rotors ] the abs also acts as speed sensor if problem was with an abs sensor at the[ hub] wheel usually set the brake system to normal power brakes [if u hit brakes hard will lock up or skid wheels] with the abs light coming on if the speed sensor at ****** malfunction can and usually causes shift problems

1997 GMC Safari van brakes would not operate when the brake pedal was pressed, infact they would not push down at all, until thebrake pedal was push numerous times. The anti-lock brake light was on prior...

The ABS light is usually a speed sensor problem and is a GM nuisance . it should not affect normal braking. It might be a booster for power assist problem, which will affect normal braking (expensive). Get rid of that old GMC.

Brake and abs lights stays on in a 2003 gmc safari wile driving after a small period of time. put new pads and there's no leaks in the calipers

Have the ABS Distribution Unit/Computer checked at the dealer.

NOTE: ABS Unit located under the vehicle, under the drivers seat. Listen to it with the vehicle running with no brake on... if you hear ABS motor running continuously, unplug ABS fuse in fuse block under hood to turn ABS motor off and be able to use vehicle in the meantime whether you decide to get the ABS fixed or not.. This will not affect brake operation, but will disable ABS feature. ABS and Brake idiot lights will remain on. No way to turn them off short of having the correct repair done. ABS Distribution Unit/Computer is very expensive part and requires expensive labour for replacement.

How can I disconnect the ABS on a 1994 Safari van? Is there a fuse I can remove?

You half to unhook it from the brakes and then you will need to pull the light out of the dash cause it won't go off, An you can't get it inspected with it on.

Brake dash light and abs dash light comes on when a bump is hit

if the brake pedal is low than the problem could be that the brakes need replacing and the other problem could be a problem with the ABS system
